It was really dead on arrival all because of that Kinect mandatory & price it $500 that nobody ask for. PS4 was just the logical choice at the time.

There'll be changes but no way is MS letting go of the gaming market even if it may not be called "Xbox" but I think they'll still use that branding for a bit more.

I voted Yes, that their consoles themselves will never live up to the precedent that PS5 and Switch set. However, the Xbox brand isn't going anywhere, the niche they are carving out might be smaller in the traditional game space, but they are going after the cloud to reach billions of new people, something Sony isn't doing with PS Now and something Switch ain't doing either.

Sure, it's no secret that Xbox One is a failure, though I feel like Microsoft's mass purchasing of multiple game studio will likely give them a trick up their sleeve for the next console generation. Don't expect an IP auction.

I don’t own a Xbox One, and I abandoned the 360 in favor of a PS3 about two years into the 360 life cycle after my 4th RROD.

That said I believe that the original Xbox doesn’t get enough credit for how much it pushed forward the console game industry. It did so many things first that now get taken for granted in a console. Xbox had a HDD. You could rip music to Xbox and make custom soundtracks. Xbox supported the first HD resolutions. Xbox came with an Ethernet port, and had a WiFi adapter add on. Xbox Live was introduced with the Xbox, as well as gametags. Xbox Arcade was the first ever digital games offered on console.

Hardware problems pushed me away from Microsoft, and I never went back, but I do have very fond memories of the original Xbox. Playing Project Gotham Racing and Phantasy Star Online over Xbox Live with voice chat was a huge experience for me. So if Microsoft does go, or goes to a streaming service, I don’t mind pouring a bit of a 40 on the ground for my old homie. We may have fell out, but we used to have a real good time.

Fanboys are delusional. X-box will always have streaming services so they will never be dead.

@evilross: Those are some solid points. Hell, we're even having our tri-monthly Halo CE lan next weekend. Goes to show what a good game, great friends, and splitscreen can do!

Well, I've played my Xbox more this year + watched some 4k blurays, so not dead to me. Days Gone is just around the corner though.

I too agree. The original Xbox was actually not a bad console by any means, it had lots of exclusives of it's time, it also introduce me to the world of Halo CE, it was like having a super PC gaming and this was before I got into PC gaming myself. Despite Xbox didn't sell well over PS2, it just came late to the world of gaming but it did gave the Gamecube a run for it's money though.
