I've been keeping up with the gaming news ever since I bought my Xbox 360 back in 2007.

Back then, all the lemmings were declaring how Microsoft was the king of gaming. Some even had the audacity to say that SONY would leave the industry by the end of this gen. That was then; now, it appears that Microsoft will be the one bowing its head in humility.

They claimed that the next Xbox would be much more powerful than the PS4. They were right that the performance gap between the 2 consoles are even bigger than any previous gen, but that advantage lies with SONY's console, not Microsoft's.

They claimed that the Xbox ONE's controller would be better than the DS4. With reviewers and gamers alike thrashing the inferiority of the Xbone controller to the DS4, it seems lemmings were wrong about this prediction as well.

They claimed that Xbox would retain its crown as the definitive online experience. Now, reports are coming out from Neogaffers that the Xbox LIVE on the Xbox ONE is buggy and lacks basic social features like x-game chat and friends list, meaning it's on par with the PS2's online capabilities.

The events that have transpired recently have been poetically ironic to the point that it feels like everything that happened in reality has been staged. Maybe a God does exist. lol... Enjoy your buyer's remorse, lemmings.

Man, I'm just amazed at how things have wounded up in the end. It feels almost supernatural; it feels as if some omnipotent being was guiding the fates of the 2 companies to enact poetic justice on the arrogant lemmings. It honestly feels like a Greek play.

1 year back, Microsoft was in the best position next gen. Today, they're in danger of shutting down their Xbox division.

Last gen there was a swap in roles with MS first and cheaper, and giving options. This gen roles swapped again. MS expensive, arrogant at first alienating consumers. We'll aee how it turns out. I still will get both over time, and enjoy gaming.

ALright. I'm all for bashing lems but now this is just boring. Lemmings are going extinct and quiet and MS isn't cutting them any breaks so this is just boring.

You have to look at the whole story.

During the PS2 era, Cows got really arrogant. The 360 launched and was sold out for months. It had an online service that still is the standard for online gaming, great games with Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, Oblivion, Gears, and a great controller. When Sony started dropping the ball before the launch of the PS3, it gave Lems the chance to get revenge on Cows for the PS2 days. It was brutal in here. The PS3 could be found right after launch. The only reason to own a PS3 in the first year was Bluray. It seemed Sony was always playing catch up to MS when it came to features. (Online infrastructure, Security, Trophies, Playstation Store, etc.) Then suddenly the PS3 started getting great exclusives while 360 was sharing most of its games with the PC. 360 took a nice chunk out of the Playstation userbase and Lems let Cows know this. Lemmings would throw out that PS3 had inferior multiplats, and Cows would say we have the best looking exclusives.

Then suddenly it seemed like MS stopped putting out games for the 360 (according to Cows & Hermits) while Sony was killing it so Lems started going towards next gen and talking about how powerful the 720 would be and how MS could afford to lose money on a powerful console while Sony was going bankrupt so their system would be weaker. Then suddenly rumors came out that the 720 would be weaker and Lems wouldn't believe it. Then the rumors showed true and MS just messed up the reveal with not explaining the way the system would work and making ignorant comments telling people to stick with the 360. Lems went into damage control or just left the board and Cows embraced this.

MS went on damage control and tried to save their name and that puts us to where we are now. Cows bashing Lems for inferior ports while Lems are saying better exclusives. Then Cows return with MS will abandon the One after 4-5 years like they did the 360 even though the 360 has had good games it's whole lifecycle.

Personally, I think MS messed up with the One's pricing model and by not being up front with what they were going for with the always on model early on.

The negativity on system wars was so bad in 05-06 That I left Gamespot for almost the entire generation. I only came back at the start of this year due to Gametrailers forums being basically dead.

I see quite a bit of irony and frankly a lot of the trash talkers from back then are getting their just deserts. I won't participate in bashing them or their system of choice though.

Let them enjoy their system and what it offers. I will enjoy mine.

moral victory, MS is neck and neck with Sony who dominated the last two gens, they gave Sony a run for their (what little they have left) money

plus MS was a bigger leader in console features this coming gen, they took more leadership shaping how things turned out than Sony did, that in itself is a victory

Enjoy your pre-release victory, post release will be a different thing. Only the stupidest of cows will pronounce victory even before the next gen has started.

No, it really pretty much is over with. All the lems that are left in System Wars are just the guys that have a hard-on for Sony left over from the Dreamcast or whatever. They'll all trickle over to the Steambox once that arrives or go PC.

Its just the 3rd console curse. MS will be back in the game next gen. Ninty is also going through the 3rd console curse (their 6th console but evidently it resets after every 3)

The consoles havent even been released yet...

1080p does matter but it in no way makes a great game. I'd rather play Thief 1 in 1280x1024 and no graphics mods than 80% of the games that come out today

If you love the PS4, great, I'm happy for you. Go buy one and enjoy it. If you hate the evil, capitalist, NSA-gonna-record-me-while-I-jerk-it box from Microsoft...go buy one and set it on fire if it gets you off.

I enjoy reading about games and this is an active board with a few knowledgeable posters; but some people on this board need to reassess their priorities in life.
