the story and cutscenes look really good and interesting, but if it was a movie it would be a boring idea? Why is that? This thread isn't about Killzone 2...it's just an example, you guys can name other games too.

that's right not arguing anyway the tekken series is the only one that will translate into an high quality cinematic master piece , because of it's rich involving story and deep complex characters but that will only happen if the brilliant tekken developers will crate the movie and the crap production that is going on now( p.s im not serious but tekken still kickass).

The standards are different for movie plots and video game plots. With games, the experience is interactive therefore you are using more of your senses to engage and the enjoyability of that experience is based on all of your senses. With a movie or book for example, the limited senses you use are more perceptive of the overall story and if they are not satisfied, the overall experience sucks

sounds like a great movies story, one where Humans actually invade another planet, because if we did discover aliens it would be us raiding their planet and stealing their resources

I find games to have better stories than movies because games are alot longer so you get attached to the characters and what-not more. In a movie it's like "ok... this character I was introduced to an hour ago died... yippee..." where-as in a game its more emotional because maybe you got attached to that character over the last week. I dunno that's just my opinion, I mean there are some movies with awesome stories like Memento and The Usual Suspects but in general I find game stories are more enjoyable.

Its because movies are ALL about the story. If the story is weak then the movie is usually bad. Games are more interactive and the 'drama' is more based on your actions. Whether its narrowly getting through a level on veteran in COD4 to devising a different approach through a level in Crysis, its more about your actions.

max payne was horrible. I heard it pleased the game fans tho. unless the director is REALLY good, then I don't see a halo or resistance movie being any good. an uncharted movie can be fantastic tho

mostly b/c mark wahlberg is like my favorite actor lol. but i heard that Uncharted rights were Sold from SCEA to Sony Pictures, so I guess we will have to see if an Uncharted Movie is in the works. I heard either peter jackson, or spielberg is who Sony was going after, and if Sony really felt this would make a good game, they can through around some money for spielberg

KZ2's premise would definitely work and so would alot of other games. They just need to be beefed up with character development, stronger dialogue, and more varied outcomes. Movie standards are higher since it's basically characters and story providing the entertainment. Plus movies have been around much longer.

MGS is soo full of movie cliche's that the only way it would work is indeed if it didn't take itself too seriously!

It's how you handle the material really. How serious you take the dialogue and character development. There are some deep movies that have off-the-wall aspects in them as well. But in the end movies as a whole have explore much more content and are years ahead in story telling.

Max payne the movie was horrible, nothing like the game (story-wise) even the game directors hated it and thought it could have been better. Mark Wallberg was a horrible cast for payne, he looked like a tool. Only thing that resembles the game is the slow mo action and even that was poorly done.

Yes that's true, but I've often wondered why we as gamers accept such cheesiness so easily. Characters like Snake, Dante, Marcus Fenix, etc.

Thats a pretty unnecessary quote in your sig. A) The case which MGS4 is sold in says it supports 1080p B) His t.v probably supports 1080p C) His PS3 is probably hooked with an HDMI that allows 1080p D) The devs said the resolution is 1080p Now back on topic.. its not strange at all. Watching someone play twister, or playing it yourself.

Well, I for one think KZ2 would make an awesome sci-fi movie series. Much like Halo would. Though, there are some games that wouldn't make too good movies. like I don't think the COD series would be all that great, having already been done by movies like Brothers in Arms, Saving Pvt. Ryan, and other movies like that.

I though Max Payne was an OK movie, DOOM wasn't bad either, and I didn't hate Hitman either.

I wouldn't call any of them classics, but I'd watch them on a rainy day if I caught it on TV or something. I wouldn't mind a Killzone movie either.

I did hate the Resident Evil movies with a burning passion though.

I have to disagree. Its not because I don't like MGS and have never understood the reasons for its popularity(And I have tried the games, yes), its that I don't think anybody BUT the gaming community and Sci Fi junkies could ever accept it. The story is undeniably straight out weird as anything.

It wouldn't fare well with the movie crowed based on the strange plot twists, you know, like an arm taking over a persons mind despite it lacking a brain, cyber ninjas, weird giant robots, and the constant interruption of action sequences with dialogue and story. I just don't think it would do well.

Everything about KZ2's story, setting, and gameplay is very boring and generic. It's all very pretty though.
