It would be good for gaming if touch controllers would just dissapear.

ok dont go smartass on me saying like "LOL TECHNICALLY EVERY CONTROLLER IS A TOUCH CONTROLLER" because you know exactly what im talking about.

this whole "touch control" thing is even worse than motion controllers, how can there be people who believe that this is the future of gaming? the simple fact of having to sacrifice part of your vision in order for these "touch pads" to work is just unnaceptable, or with those racing games where you have to tilt the screen in order to move, its so uncomfortable because you have to tilt your head as well or otherwise you will just have a messed up angle.

and like I said having to block part of the screen in order to touch a "button", thats just terrible, touch gaming should just die right now.

Tottally agree.

Its like when they were showing off the PSVita with uncharted. this guy was using the regular controlls just fine and some random guy jumped in shoved there finger ON THE SCREEN and was like OHH you could go acrossed the certain part like this.my first reaction was WHAT? thats so useless if you can just use regular controlls why use the touch screen? its just a gimmic like 3D is on the 3DS and TV's.

Also to the tilting. im sure racing games on the Vita will use some sort of tilt controll well that makes it harder to focus on the screen because your moving it all around.

You do know that you can purchase a stylus for every device out there right? And even if you couldn't, "viewing obstruction" is probably the worst argument you can make. Even a stylus obstructs the view to some extent. If you still have trouble with multi-touch games then you should start buying better made games or stop being so poor at gaming.

I'm agree to some extent...there hasn't been a game that i have played on a Tablet Galaxy that it isn't clunky and innacurate due the controls, with that being said this aren't dispositive with gaming in mind (gaming is more like a plus to them) so before i completely dismiss them i want to try first the Nintendo and Sony approach.

That dephends on the implementation more than anything, good use of touch based controls are fine.

Touch based offers several advantages

  • Makes up for the shortage of buttons on controllers
  • Allows symbols to be drawn
  • A lot less pausing to select items or view menus such as character stats
  • Puzzle games and adventure games can highly benefit

All in all, Touch based controllers are at their best when there are 2 screens as well as physical buttons like with the DS and Wii-U.

Potential innovation shouldn't be frowned upon when it can offer so much.

Kinect is kind of a joke for gaming, but its got great potential and things like the Skyrim mod show just how great it could be if MS didn't just shove it out there and have devs use it in the laziest way possible.

Same for touch screens, great potential for great games.

The only controllers I've seen using touch control are the Vita and iPads and iPhones. And you can't even call those last two controllers.

Touch-gaming is its own thing. Trauma Centre on analog sticks would be horrible for example, but it's awesome on motion controls. The same thing can be said for touch-controlled games like Elite Beat Agents.

I hate touchscreens when it comes to phones and such, but that's because I'm a little old fashioned and I always seem to mess up.

However, if someone prefers it, and it is optional, I don't see why not. Options is never a bad thing.
