The PSone and the PS2 both thrived because of their RPGs.
Every Final Fantasy game since 7 has been on Sony's console, and its been the home to Atlus and other excellent RPG creators.
What's up with the PS3?
It has Oblivion, Valkyria Chronicles (BARELY an SRPG), Enchanted Arms, Eteral Sonata, and Fallout 3 (Which has just BARELY been anounced that it's getting all the features the 360 version has.)
There are a few others that Gamespot counts as RPGs as well, but even including the ones announced, there is only one page of RPGs that are on or going to be on the PS3. (We're not counting PS1 re-releases.)
The 360 has nearly double that number, and they have good RPGs, like Fable II and Mass Effect. Even the Wii has more RPGs than the PS3.
PS3 has turned into an Action game system, and that's disapointing for the gamer that likes to have variety in what he plays. (It doesn't even have many games in the way of thought provoking puzzle games - another genre that even the Wii wins in.)
