No they shouldn't make it for Wii because it can't handle it
Now you know why Capcom chose the powerful system, look at it

it is possible to make RE5 for wii even its a downgraded version. Ubisoft did with their Splinter Cell Double Agent.

But it's RESIDENT EVIL!! Do you really want to play a downgraded, stripped down version of the game? You have two years, save up and buy a 360 or PS3 for it. Besides it's not like that's the only game you'll ever play for that console. AC, Haze, ME or LBP are wonderful games.

Wouldn't that make it possible then because we all know that the Wii is more powerful than the PS2?
The game won't be out for what? 2 years? A lot will happen in such a time span, we just don't know what at this point in time.

wow ps2 had it as well...wow. nonetheless it shows it possible if they decide to put it on the wii even if its a down grade version of it.
It plays like RE4, and that started on a Nintendo console. There's no doubt this will make some hardcore Wii players get a a 360 or PS3.Kayrod29
RE5 is an advanced game. Did you ever think you could get that sort of game on a Wii? Maybe they could do some scaled down version for Wii at some point.

Page 2 of this thread is awesome, look at all the punches.

Have you seen the one where right after Chris punches one of the enemies, huge text appears saying "WAIT TILL 2009 *****!" I laughed at that one for a minute...and then I died a little on the inside.

Naw i havent :P, im waiting for someone to make one that says "FALCON PUNCH!"
The reason is the hardware can't handle it. I'm all for it coming to the Wii and believe it would sell, but the hardware probably couldn't handle the game.norfair_dweller
QFT, Wii's hardware is not that strong. Most Wii owners already have a 360/PS3 though...

Well the case with Splinter Cell DA, was that the PS2, Xbox, and Wii versions were completely different games from their 360, PS3, and PC versions. So a Resident Evil spinoff on Wii is possible, but a a downgraded port to Wii would prove useless, all of the mechanics they're adding to Resident Evil 5, would make it pretty much a different game if ported to Wii, they would be better off making a sideline story game or something.

The current gen versions of Splinter Cell: Double Agent (aside from the Wii version) were different from the last-gen versions in terms of content? Didn't know that (I never played a Tom Clancy game).
The only two major potential problems I see with trying to get Resident Evil 5 on the Wii are:
1. The amount of enemies on screen. In The Mercenaries, at most, you could find about ten or eleven enemies on-screen, actively hunting you down. But in Resident Evil 5, there's more.
2. The size of the levels. Sort of tying in with #1, for all we know, there could be hundreds of enemies at once dispersed through an entire level. The larger the levels, the bigger the problem (the first level in Chapter 5-4 was pretty large though, but if it's bigger...we might have a problem). If enemies pop out of nowhere like in The Mercenaries though, then this shouldn't be much of a problem.
If the Wii can handle those two problems head-on, then the only things left to be changed would be visuals and controls.

Well, hypothetically, if it were to be ported to Wii, those reasons would be the least of my worries, as the horror that Capcom is going for relies heavily on graphics, being in a bright area then going into a dark hut would make your eyes have to adjust for a period of time, which I think is a good example of why it would prove useless to port it to Wii, not because I don't want it to, but inplain and simpleWii just can't handle the experience Capcom is shooting for with next gen consoles.
The reason is the hardware can't handle it. I'm all for it coming to the Wii and believe it would sell, but the hardware probably couldn't handle the game.norfair_dweller
Then why was RE4 on the Gamecube? They maxed out the gamecube, why not use the Wii to its full potential?

Because maxing out the gamecube = close to PS2. So it was easy to make for both. The difference between Wii at it's max and 360 is still incredibly huge.

Allow me to re-word what Kayrod29 said:
