Its Offical PS3 Network Killed Xboxlive and its still free

In game XMB, Custom Sound tracks, Trophy, and all etc..I can't wait till HOME releases it will take advantages of these features even more..

dammit... i guess now that the ps3 has some of the same options that live had the whole time, i should just throw out my xbox.

Can you play Gears or Halo online with the PSN? No. So still a lot of people will preffer Live. That's why PSN won't kill Live.

its great news but isn't the guy doing the video walkthroughs said that in game xmb will only work with a majority of games, trophies for games have to get a patch by devs and custom soudtracks need to be patched also? Is that what he said or am i wrong?

HOME looks really cool, but that has no affect on the actual online gameplay of the PS3, which is nowhere near Live

(I don't own a 360 or a PS3, but I've played them both to death)

in game xmb for all games...custom soundtracks for a majority.

also no 'game invite' options, plus the options that it does have are a little shallow compared to XBL

PSN had Free online long time ago, but I've yet to see the service at the level of XBL. Having in-game XMB is nothing to do with XBL. It was in the system day one and can be accessed without XBL. (Custom soundtracks and swapping profiles mainly, but add XBL and the integration of messaging friends across games, checking/comparing achievements, adding friends and other options via the Guide feature were always there. )

2.40 isn't making PSN "XBL but free!" There's no unification, no standards and other things.

Congrats cows,its only taken Sony 18 months to get an online service thats almost as good as Live. :lol: Unsatisfactory.

Live will still be the bencmark after this update anyway.

That is something I can agree with, saying PSN is better than XBL, however, is a for more bolder statement. TC will need a better argument than what he has.

Aren't they going to start charging like $25 a year for demos, trailers and behind the scenes stuff though? A console maker charging for services that its rival gives out for free... where have I heard this before...

No, demos are still free, but the rest is called "Qore", for the PS3. Its extra features that are not necessary for the online experience. Online is still free for PS3 users, and so are demos, among other things.
