System Wars!

There are several people around these parts that have 15000+ posts. Stick with me here, I'm going to do a bit of math.

Let's say, for the somewhat general purposes of this thread, each post requires on average 1 minute to write and post. Add to that approximately 2 minutes of reading etc to find something to post on. This makes a total of ~3 minutes per post.

Are we in agreement?

Using the somewhat high, but not unheard of, number of 15000 posts, we get 45000 minutes spent posting on System Wars. This works out to 750 hours. That's almost 47 waking days (assuming 8 hours of sleep/day).

Waste of time, yay or nay?

Anyone think they can come up with a better estimate using more accurate values?

How much time have you spent on System Wars?

There is no replay value.

It doesn't mean anything though. I could just skip to the last page of a Roll Call thread and get 2000 messages read without even glancing at one of them.

Here are my stats so far I was a member since May 22, 2005. But I couldn't post until June, then I couldn't go onto the internet because my Internet was out from June 6th 2005 until October 23rd 2005.

Meh I think there is something wrong here. I've been here since 2003 and even though I don't post as much as I could I do read a lot of threads...but who cares...:cry:

Go ask people in WoW or people that used to play Everquest a lot. 45 days is nothing. I quit playing WoW about a year and a half ago and I had about 175 days played on one character. Sure, that's pretty sad when I look back...and sure, I probably shouldn't have made myself look bad by posting that...and....I'm leaving now.MyzeDivine

Frightening, no? Do the math for your numbers. If you were getting paid minimum wage to work instead of be on these forums, how much money would you have made?

I just like to come around here and observe most of the times, and perhaps post a abit here and there....

the only game I've played multiple tiems are the KOTOR series, Fable, Ninja Gaiden and Metal Gear Solid.

And no, the "total viewed" makes the assumption that you read every post on a page. As in, if you click on a 1,000-post thread and go straight to the last page, the counter assumes you read 1,000 messages and adds them to your tally...when you probably only read 7 or 8.

I'd say I might have read .5% of those 3 million messages.
