IT'S OVER: Microsoft has a better line-up than Sony

PlayStation 2022:

Gran Turismo 7 (cross-gen; $70/80€)

God of War 5 (cross-gen; $70/80€)

Xbox 2022:

Forza Motorsport (next-gen; available day one on Xbox Game Pass (and for $60/60€))

Starfield (next-gen; available day one on Xbox Game Pass (and for $60/60€))

Redfall (next-gen; available day one on Xbox Game Pass (and for $60/60€))

That's not a great argument for something being "over"...

Xbox, Switch, PC... all had way better showings than Sony did today.

To be fair, Sony set the precedent for what to expect from this State of Play so none of us should have been expecting much of anything.

That said, Sony's lack of communication for why people should be excited about PS5 isn't just lacking... it's practically non-existent. OP has a point to a certain degree. If Sony doesn't provide a better road map for what's coming up, then there's very little for PS5 owners and prospective PS5 buyers to care about.

Don't worry, that's about a year for Sony to give PS5 gamers PS5 updates to their PS4 games, at a price.

I'll never understand why Cows had this weird fetishization of "1st year" exclusives for no reason than list fodder wars. Like, are you really that proud of 3 or 4 "AA" 80 rated games, and nothing after that but God of War and Horizon? Two games that your PS4 can play just fine?

Its clear at this point the PS5 sold well not because of Returnal, Ratchet, AstroBot, Sackboy, or Kena: Bridge of Spirits. It sold because of PS4 inertia, blind hype, and FOMO.

I can comfortably say, I am in no need of a Playstation 5.

@BenjaminBanklin: TESVI and outer worlds 2 (I think) are in pre-production but the rest are in full production.

Looking like a strong 2022 for PC.

Avowed is still super early. Fable, Indiana Jones, Outer Worlds 2, Project Mara, Hellblade 2, Contraband, Elder Scrolls 6 won't be here for years. Everwild got rebooted, there's still no core gameplay concept. These are all super early titles that have yet to show gameplay. Meaning, it's all up in the air between the teaser reveals and release.

i wouldn't say "it's over" but Xbox does appear to have the stronger line-up of games announced for 2022..

and I personally don't think this trend is going to slow down as we move into 2023 and beyond.. especially since cows all claim the best Xbox titles aren't releasing until 2023 and beyond..

Avowed has been in development for 3 years and 7 months, and was part of Obsidian's pitch to MS during the acquisition talks.

Playground Games started working on Fable in February 2017. It is now in its 5th year.

The 6 other games you mentioned, which I feel I must remind you......is not "most" of the 16 games I listed, are all conjecture made by you.

Are you sure Starfield will release in 2022? No one will play Redfall, everyone's on Back4Blood

I mean, both consoles can't keep production up with demand, so nothing is really over. I'm sure everyone will find something to play on whatever console they get, even if it's a few years old or 3rd party. Games I haven't played yet, are still new to me when I get around to them.

Playground was still hiring for the basics on Fable THIS YEAR! And if Avowed was really that far long, wouldn't they have something to show by now? Avowed didn't even become a AAA project until MS bought them. They were still working on isometric games. I'm telling you, all that stuff is so far away you shouldn't even be putting it on any kind of list yet.

Fact - MS is the Sony this gen. Last gen, Sony had a lineup that was coming, you just had to wait for it. Remember the joke, Greatness Awaits…and waits…and waits. Thing is, when it happened, it was epic. This is why you see people claim MS has no games and all the games are on PS. Tables are turned this gen. Xbox has a better line up. Multiplats are better on Xbox. There better be something crazy compelling for my PS5 for me to pay full price, cause so far I’m spending my money with MS.

@sheep99: don’t need to. I’ve bought more on my Series X than PS5. Looking ahead to the future, the Xbox lineup is better. I’ll buy all my multiplats on Xbox and unless anything compelling releases on PS, I probably won’t buy much. Make a new Socom? I’ll be the first to preorder. I’m just not moved by Sony’s offerings at this time.

I’m still going to eventually buy a PlayStation 5,but it looks like it’s going to be a couple of years before I do? At least a year I’m figuring? Sony’s just anti-consumer so far this generation and what’s offering Xbox Series X/S is much better than Sony’s. Even Forza Horizon 5 sh*ts all over anything Sony’s got for a year or two. Halo Infinite. Scorn. Fable 4. SoD 3. Exclusive games coming over to GamePass Day 1, there’s a dozen or more coming to GamePass and Xbox. Sony looks alright. Xbox dominates anything from Sony.

If I was a person who was new to gaming and did a bit of research,Xbox Series X looks a lot more appealing than the PS5.
