I remember distinctly a MS exec refuting any need to even consider adding a blu ray drive to the 360. And yes, an external add-on would be option only and therefore NOT affect game development for the 360 at all. 360 games will continue to be developed on DVD only even if this did come out. So NO, this would not threaten Sony in the slightest.

I think someone just owned himself with his own thread. Even if this ever comes out it would bump the pricetag of 360 to the PS3s.

Might want to read more carefully next time before you link something that you found by googling.

If you would of said its over MS is finished you would of been more credible. Just so you know TC MS will never get a Blu-Ray player without Sonys say so. So that would be never.

Again, I have to say, even if this vapor ware were real, it would make NO IMPACT ON GAMING FOR THE 360. As an optional add on, 360 developers would not risk the expense of developing a game on the blu ray format.

If this comes out then good for them but its going to fail miserably. Just look at what happened to HD DVD. I mean how many xbox 360 owners are really going to buy this? Think about it.

either way this wouldn't have mattered. i remember back when this was going on that MS constantly stated that the blu-ray drive would be for movies only like the HD DVD drive was. the blu-ray drive wouldn't affect games for the 360.

MS must have realized they didnt need the blu-ray player to beat PS3 (that would undoubtedly be the main reason they introduce it, to keep the PS3 at bay) and so far theyre right

Does it really help the 360 to catch up with what Sony's already been offering? I don't really see this getting much momentum, especially since the blu-ray market is weak right now. What makes you think MS will be more successful with it compared to other companies?

Uhhhh no. Don't you remember? 360 owners don't care about that fancy new fangled disc format that lets you watch the highest quality HD movies. PLUS they'd HATE to actually have to pay for that I mean they did have to buy the cheaper console because they couldn't afford the PS3 that came with the Blu Ray drive so I think Sony has nothing to worry about, friend.
