Just because of the last two Ratchet and Clank games. Fuse was mediocre? Resistance 3 wasn't too good? (Idk I haven't played either) Fine. Traditional Ratchet and Clank games are always something that Insomniac makes well. The last two titles were not supposed to be normal Ratchet and Clank games. Insomniac made them knowing they wouldn't be traditional style games. They've said multiple times that they wanted a chance to experiment with the franchise.
Just look at some comments James Stevenson (Insomniac dev) responded too on the PS blog.

Since Sony owned the R&C IP, they should just take it and give it to another studio to developer Ratchet and Clank games. Insomniac Games is incapable of making a good Ratchet and Clank game, hell a good game in general, since ACiT. The last two games were beyond insulting to the Ratchet and Clank series. Sad to see one of my favorite game series driving to the ground by a studio that doesnt know when to call it quits. You want to try new game ideas, do it on another IP.

Well, we hope you give it a shot. We greatly enjoyed trying something new and being experimental with A41 and FFA. We are proud of them and we think a lot of folks really enjoyed them (and we get the letters to prove it!).
Were also really excited to put a lot of our ideas into a new single-player classic Ratchet game. Its really fun to work on one again!

-Is it going to suck like A4O and FFA? I hope its like the previous titles. Not the recent ones.

We are proud of A4O and FFA. Anytime you work on a series like this, you need time to experiment and try new stuff. We think A4O is a killer family game (and get lots of fan mail for it), and FFA had great competitive. But that said, weve been coming up with lots of great ideas for a classic Ratchet game in the last few years. Its really fun to work on one again.

TC I'm with you. People are really unreasonable with their random uninformed thoughts on the Franchise. And as an aspiring Musician I can tell you I would react EXACTLY like Insomniac did to those comments if someone said my music was going downhill at a certain point. Artistry takes experimentation to grow. If you aren't allowed to do that, you get stale and then you really fail and start to die out and lose your talent.
But if you're still passionate about your projects, like James clearly is, then good work will come of it. Again, I don't understand how prejudicial people can be when Insomniac has outright said, on multiple occasions, that A4O and FFA were experiments to test waters and such about design. It is like the people thinking that Lords of Shadow is what Castlevania has become. Uh... no it hasn't, it's just a side project and things will always come back to original source in time.
