I am talking about the all mighty Crysis. I mean people are already building PC's to play it, and they have no idea how good or bad it will be, they are just assuming it will be the best game in the universe. Honestly to get a PC to play it completley maxed out with all the eye candy it's gonna cost you a pretty penny, and I just have to ask, why?
People can use the computer to play other games soon to be out, as well as much later games that will probably have the same specifications requirements, as well as a functioning PC.

No, they are using crysis as a benchmark for system performance ( i.e. if it runs that, it will run anything). Nobody is going to upgrade wanting to only play crysis.
People spend $2000 for an Alpha Black Lotus (look it up on Ebay), spending $1K for a computer that you can use for virtually anything to great effect isn't sad, now if they ONLY use it to play Crysis (which heck, some may) that is sad.
I dont know about other people but my PC is my workstation(I do CGI work, video editing, music) so I need my $2600 baby.(Will soon be more cause I'm waiting for a second GTX and new mother board).

It would be crazy... but then again, most of them are interested in more than ust Crysis. I'm building a new computer so I can max every game I play on it without the system saying: "no this is too much, I need to drop the framerate to below 10 per second." You are propagating a hefty misconception about PC gamers.

yeh i need a decent cpu and a decent amount of ram for my music degree ( dealing with music programs and high quality amples e.t.c.) .
The only extra cost is a graphics card.
my 8800gtx cost £300...a ps3 costs £400.
8800gtx allready outperforms the ps3 so it was cheaper ( for me at least).
Well, I don't use my computer for Crysis. I also use it for homework, internet browsing (console browsers are a joke), 3D programming (Maya, ftw), and a bunch of other stuff. Consoles simply cannot replace computers in terms of functionality and versatility.
Its more that crysis is the excuse many are using to finally upgrade their pc's. There are other games/reasons to upgrade. USA went to the moon just so they could be sweeter than the rest of the world. Sure it was disappointing; no moon women or anything, but there were other benifits to developing space technology. Same thing with building a new pc for crysis...or something.
Jesus this crap again. When you upgrade a PC, you upgrade it to play the latest games, games to come, and you old games better. Crysis is a good point to upgrade you computer because it marks the beginning of a new technological era in PC gaming. I'll be getting it, Bioshock, and a new GPU when the Geforce 9000 series comes out. It'll probabaly last me many years.
Thanks for letting me know that Crysis is the only game you can play on a PC. I must have been imagining playing games on my PC I guess. I knew it, I just knew it! Now it's time for me to go check into a mental hospital I guess. It's not healthy to imagine playing video games for years and years on end.

You really don't know that. If someone is motivated by Crysis alone to get a thousand dollar PC, then that means they bought it FOR that game. Perhaps they'll play other games on it, but the point is that one game precipitated the sale. The Value of the PC is discerned from their desire to have the game run with highest performance. Since they won't feel the same about the secondaries, it destroys arguments like these.
I bet Half of the people who "claim" that there computer could handle Crysis, cant. I for one admit my computer would blow half of the state trying to run Crysis

They did not get that PC just to play Crysis though. That is the whole point here. I doubt very few, if any sane person would buy a PC and only play Crysis on it. The TC's whole argument is pointless though. The same could be said about any other console and exclusive game. Why would someone spend $600 + an HDTV + a very nice surround sound system just to play MGS4?

My PC can run any game. Even Crysis. Sure it was $1000+ but when you build it part for part over a long period of time it pays off in the end cause you didn't burn your wallet to ashes.

computer also good for work + play. most of the time i'm not playing games on my computer...i'm working! having a gaming computer also means you can get work done that much faster
