The OG Xbox was a more reliable product than the PS2. The PS2 had a much higher failure rate.

The PS2 was unreliable.....the PS3 is VERY, VERY reliable. Your evidence is circumstantial. We have BOATLOADS of legitimate evidence on the unreliability of the Xbox 360.

I've had more that five instances when PS2 DVD-ROM drives broke for no apparant reason.

I wouldn't say they were 'reliable'(I have had 2 Sony clocks and both have broken within a year), but I can say that at least the PS3 doesn't have hardware failures like the 360 ... daqua_99

Sony still hasn't fixed the issues with the PS2 and the continuous DRE's still popping up. :lol: talk all you want, but talk is cheap when the facts are still there. Cows can act like this is fixed, but I still hear quite a bit from people about how their PS2 has broken yet again. The PS2's fail rate is astronomical and ONLY the cows and Sony deny it.

At least MS extended their warranty knowing there's an issue. What has Sony done for those of us who purchased more then one PS2 (I myself bought 3 before calling it quits with that faulty garbage)?

Acutally I found out a way to get that to stop happening. I just took it apart and used a electronic blow horn (forgot its name) and then it worked after that. I think the main reason why it keeps giving the DRE is because the lens are dusty or is misaligned (another problem that can be easily fixed because I did it when I was like what 12. Then again not everyone has patience like me to figure things out oh well their loss :D

I'v Personally had mine break, I have pics, And about 2 other friends with broken ones. Lts not act like these issues aren't widespread now. They just extended the Warranty and did refund to people who paid for repair, You really think they'd do that for user created issues??

Exactly, Opened Mine and cleaned the Lens and then I'd be able to play GT4 easily? And my PS2 is like 3 - 5 years old

Sony makes such reliable products, I only had 2 PSones break on me and 3 PS2s.

My NES,SNES,N64,Gamecube and Wii are still working fine.

As are my Genesis/CD/32x, Saturn and Dreamcast.

My original Xbox still works, had to send in my Xbox 360 2x and now it's working.

No problems with my PS3 yet.
