I've played some tough games but this one takes the biscuit...

Borrowed Patapon 2 and my gosh even on easy i'm quite litterally stuck on the start with attempting to keep to the beat 4x's. Its thats tough to me that i havent even got onto the game. Now thats hardcore FTW!!! Anyone else played a game when you thought "Too tough" lol.

PS: My dancing skills are zero too lol.

it's not the hardest but it is rather hard!

I'm stuck with having to use the miracle against the invisible beast and the rain miracle dance is hard to pull off and you have to do it multiple times in one fight! ARG.

Anyone got any tips? :)

Ninja Gaiden, Megaman 2, The old Castlevania games. Even Zelda II is tough, especially later on.

LOVED Patapon 2. There were some hard sections, but it was totally worth fighting through. I suggest cracking some eggs to get some other heros and to level them up.

Wow, I'm glad someone mentioned it. A friend and I once played Castlevania 3for 8 hours trying to beat one stupid part. An all nighter for sure. I can't remember any games in recent history that was so frustratingly hard. Well, other than Call of Duty World at War and Modern Warfare on Veteran difficulty.

You have exceptions like Contra, where there is just so much going on you can't just try to memorize it as it would take forever.

I was stuck on Death in Castlevania 1 for like 4 months. I only ever beat him due to the holy water trick.

You should find a new example for these kind of threads, one in which the game is "hard" in it's normal or unique difficulty mode.

The first Patapon was incredible. Probably the best PSP game I've played. I almost forgot about it actually. Very addictive game when you get used to the rhythm. Havn't played the second yet.

Mortal Kombat II with its silly CPU.....

and battletoads say hi.

Ninja Gaiden and Icewind Dale are pretty tough.

wizards and warriors 3 for the nes was pretty tough. no password/saving system and it took me around 3 hours the one time i beat it. the original mega man was tough, battletoad, the original nes ninja gaiden was a bit difficult (though i thought 2 and 3 were infinitely easier) ghosts n goblins for the nes.... there were really lots of tough nes games. try the original legend of zelda with no walkthrough and lemme know how many months you spend before you beat it.

its funny because i can still play and pwn on most nes/snes games but i get demolished in ps3 games.

I'm playing through the first Patapon and it's not THAT hard. Maybe I haven't played through the really difficult parts yet. But I guess since I play music (trombone) it's not all that hard getting in the right rhythm. I guess it's a different story for people who are tone deaf... :P

True to that. Beating todays games it's just like "Oh. Game over." but beating a hard NES game after hours of trying, it's always "YES! FINALLY!"

Patapon's pretty tough. I usually do an egg quest that I know gets me what I want (at the end where you choose the treasure boxes), then do minigames to get what I need to level up the rarepon I want my hero to be. For my hero I used the most powerful attack-up or hp-up masks, a "legendary" arm and another very powerful one (this is a Robopon) and the Lvl. 10 Kannoko rarepon (easier to level up than some other higher-tier rarepons and good, balanced stat increase)

On another note, NES games were brutal because they were poorly programmed/designed (in comparison to what we have today) Games like Monster Hunter and Demon's Souls take considerable time and skill to master and complete.

Patapon wasn't that hard for me, except when I'm on the bus and my timing gets thrown off during bumpy rides. Rhythm games are easy to play and pretty accessible for the most part, but hard to master.

This gen so far would be KZ2 on elite, Radec was a itch with a capital B. Mirror's Edge speedruns are pretty insane too, demanding near perfection for an extended period of time.

I actually always found Megaman 1 to be the easiest. Mega man 2 (2 or 3, I can't remember) was hard, but mainly due to some poor design choices.
