There is only one rule: We all know the worst thing that can happen is that games could be outlawed out something altogether. I'm asking what major change would ruin gaming personally for YOU?

[QUOTE="-The-G-Man-"]Not around during the N64 days were ya?$70 games.
dotWithShoes
I remember if we saw a $70 game, that was considered cheap. :(
Motion Controls. Everything else is fine, just that they are abused by developers. Motion Controls just suck. Although you can get great lulz out of them.
If there is a crash it will only affect big budget gaming.EDIT: Scratch that, how about the gaming industry crashing and games becoming a thing of the past?
Morrdecai
DRM and consolization.
Oh wait, that already happened.
Microsoft dominating the industry and starting a trend to charge for peer to peer networking.
Oh wait, that happened too.
Apple suckering people into gaming on their gimmicky overpriced hardware.
Oh wai...
PSN getting hacked and being down for weeks? My identity stolen?
I'll just give up and let yall continue.
I think it's already happening.
Content being stripped from games o be sold later on. And yes, it is happening. All this DLC isn't just stuff thedevlopers wanted to add later on (though some of it is.) Most of it is something that would have been included in the game for free had DLC not existed.
Phone gaming taking over. I don't mind it being an option for those who like it. But when it stops being an option and starts being the only choice, I'll just stick to old games.
"subscription" based gaming. Say I buy X FPS for $9.99, I beat 2 levels, and then have to shell out another $5 for the next level. That. Don't worry, MS will get us there.
If violence and sex are banned in videogames, then there would basically be no RPGs, action, adventure, and many other genres. Even if mobile gaming kills console and PC gaming (which would never happen), you would be able to hook your phone up to the TV and use a controller, so I don't see the problem.
Other : micro-transactions and dlc. You should have included that option.

You think micro-transactions and DLC, the ability to expand on the in-game content and offer great small portions for a low price are bad? Worse than violence and sex being banned? Worse than console and PC gaming dying completely? Worse than motion controls becoming the new standard?
DLC is good, if it's used correctly, the Fallout 3, New Vegas, Oblivion, GTA4, ACB, etc. DLC are all done well. If you don't want it, don't buy it... that simple....
Other: Cinematics taking precedence over gameplay and user interaction.

A triple-Yes to this post
Seriously...
But then we wouldn't have House of the Dead: Overkill!:o "It's not just good. It's ****ing delicious!". Ahh man that soundtrack is hilarious.:POn Rails or Motion Controls.
TrapJak
For me it would be scraping the SP entirely to focus on the MP.:? I loves my stories and don't care about online!
Consoles were responsible for casual gaming. Minesweeper is hardcore :)gaming was already killed by consoles, which brought motion controls and more casuals.
M4Ntan
grapchis becoming more and more important while stories and gameplay get last on the list, developers with no imagination making clones of succesful games and not even trying to make new games and greedy corporations releasing half games so they can squeeze more money for the full game from consumers, auction houses that sell ig items for real life money, etc. that would be terrible, oh wait it already happenning
Games becoming throwaway commodity items rather than something to be enjoyed for many generations, such as games that focus only on online gameplay (and when the community or online dies, the game dies). Also, requiring internet connection to play single player games (or even local multiplayer). That reeks of inconvenience and anti-consumerism.

Exact description of CoD.
$70 games.

Try being an Aussie, where $80 is considered a good price. We get ripped off so badly that it's not even funny.
The worst thing that could happen: Gaming being banned.
But I doubt that will happen so I will go with, gaming becoming too cinematic.

Wait what?
A lot of adventure games I have played have no violence or sex whatsoever. You are probably refering to action-adventure.
That's a good list TC
I don't think the possibility of the simplified motion taking over and/or phone gaming killing consoles is high.
Also, because of the openness of the internet, it'll be really hard to have all digital download services cease to exist in favor of a restrictive OnLive gaming model.
And as long as there is still business in it and money to be made, I'm sure some companies will cater to fans of the conventional style DD services were you have your copy downloaded locally to your gaming machine and available for offline play instead of just OnLive restrictive model.
Plus, the benefits of OnLive is it'll most probably be cheaper (similar to cable television model) and cheaters / hackers free
So by process of elimination, I would go with violence and sex being banned in games.
