Jack Thompson Responds to Manhunt 2 Rating

This is all absolutely delicious. I warned Take-Two months ago that there would be huge problems if it went ahead with Manhunt 2. Who was right about that kiddies?

Secondly, the BBC and the world are now laughing at Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick for his idiotic statement yesterday that Manhunt 2 is "a fine piece of art." Find the BBC story on that!

Right, and Jack the Ripper was his generation's Rembrandt. Please.

Take-Two has been hemorrhaging cash over the last few financial quarters, and this must makes it worse. I love it. If you all would stop and think about this for a minute, this development is a HUGE benefit to the video game industry. It fits nicely with their argument that the ESRB ratings are real and actually mean something.

Responsible people within the industry, even Doug Lowenstein, have been saying for quite sometime that Take-Two had become a problem for the entire industry because it was painting a bullseye on the back of the whole industry and making it more difficult for the industry to get US politicians off its back.

Now the ESRB does something that indicates is might be trustworthy, and you nitwits go bonkers because of that development.

Grow up and smell the hot coffee. This is the best thing that could have happened to the industry. The isolation and ostracism of Take-Two by the industry was long overdue.

I'm oddly indifferent about the whole Manhunt 2 deal. Guess it's the whole Rockstar trying to sell a game purely based on shock value thing that makes me not care whether it gets to exist or not.

For once, I can make sense of a Jack Thompson argument. and I do agree with him, slightly.

Don't get me wrong, I love making fun of JT, but this just doesn't sound like him.

We need to develop a cannon powerful enough to fire the ignorant and stupid people of this damn planet right into the sun. The first to go would be Jack Thompson, followed by everyone at the ESRB, and then all religious people who want to ban everything and prevent people from freedom of expression, love and all that other crap that plagues this world. No wonder we live in such a horrible world, people cant agree and everyone has to whine and moan about everything that one other person does. If I had a dollar for every time someone said something idiotic about why they dont like certain things, I would be extremely rich. In a perfect world, religion would not exist and people like Jack Thompson would be nothing more then a bad memory, JT is a pimple ongaming's rear end.

I dont care whether Manhunt 2 gets an AO rating or not personally, the fact that countries are banning it shows just how narrow minded some places are. There is not just reason for banning a video game just because it happens to be really mature. If countries have a problem with games getting into the hands of kids, make it illegal for minors to own them in the first place and only sell them in special stores meant for adults, simple as that.

The only reason why is because he was found in Contempt of Court while suing Take-Two. Take-Two is charging him with the Comtempt of Court and he isn't going to win. So what he is doing is shoving s*** up Take-Two's ass until he can settle on an agreement. AKA, drop charges.
