Atleast he answered back with no hesitation, unlike the guy from xbox live getting interviewed from gametrailers, he got smacked around and didnt even know what to say to counter the questions, lmao.

Answering like a politician isn't much better really.
Sold to consumers or retailers?
Also, woah, where is CNBC getting it's worldwide console sales figures?
Danm_999
they messed up they showed US sales but said world wide sales...typo I guess because they had Wii at 2.8 million
CNBC does manage to misquote some vital numbers as their "worldwide sales" are actually the US sales. Tretton closes with "the PS3 is still dominant," though the numbers are telling quite the story. - Joystiq
Who listens to the man who claimed E3 2005 Killzone 2 footage to be real?foxhound_foxThat's right, let's ignore the CEO of SCEA and listen to what GameSpot users say.
did you see those worldwide sales figures they posted? about 2 mill ps3, 2.5 wiis and 5.6 360's. Where are they gettin these numbers from?gander448I believe they get them from this link

But an answer is better then nuttin right. :)
Fascinates me how well composed Tretton is despite the interviewer being fairly direct with his questions. Of course, that doesn't mean Tretton ain't putting a (very) postive spin on things.
I'm guessing he means 6 million shipped to retailers, and not sold to consumers. Where is CNBC getting the worldwide sales for the consoles from though? They had all of them way off the mark for some reason.

you're slow, aren't you? read my sig and you'll understand that HE NEVER CLAIMED the kz2 footage to be real gameplay...

Latest I've heard is 5.5 million SHIPPED, not sold .... daqua_99
so?sony get money from shipping consoles, then the retailers get money from selling it to the consumers. and of it's over 5.5 million consoles it means that retailers has faith in the ps3, otherwise they wouldn't buy them in.

True, but the thing is Sony has only 'sold' the PS3 to retailers, not to consumers, which means there is (going by latest sales) 2 million PS3's sitting on retailers shelves ...Manufacturers can't track every sale to consumers. Manufacturer sale claims are to retailers = shipped.
Somewhat legitimate numbers are partial retailer tracking by NPD.
Nexgenwars and VGChartz are extremely fake.

you know what I went back and listened to the interview with Geoff Knightley and you are right...Geoff asked him about Killzone but Jack was still talking about Resistance...cause he was talking about Ted Price from Insomniac "that something Ted wanted to make sure everyone understood that is real gameplay"...although Jack Tretton is still a clown:)

Yeh I only go by official releases, as manufacturers can put as much spin on as possible (ie Sony towards the Australian sales 'we are the best-selling console', when sales prove wrong) ...Manufacturers can't track every sale to consumers. Manufacturer sale claims are to retailers = shipped.

Please guys, don't tell me anyone is taking the word of a sony CEO ever again. They tell straight out lies every time again with a straight face and expect you to still believe they're credible. I'm not saying I'm always taking the word of every other CEO either, but I'd trust independent sources over sony.Manufacturers can't track every sale to consumers.
