Jack Tretton of Sony: We Have 15 Exclusive in Development

I can't tell if that's an elaborate lie or if its the truth.

Tretton seems like a nice guy, but it sounds like such a lie.

I'm assuming it's true, but probably a few are the "must haves" he is claiming them all to be.

Bottom line is that we need to see these games to believe it. Does the TGS hype start now?

Elaborate Lie?

Sheesh, considering that he could be counting PSN titles, it's fine. It's not much of a stretch to say they are ALL PS3 Retail titles though, as E3 we have at least ELEVEN (11) CONFIRMED PS3 Retail games. Adding 4 games that we may not know about isn't a stretch.
For instance, What is SUCKER PUNCH working on now that InFAMOUS is done?

What is Guerrilla Working on now that KZ2 is out?

LIES? C'mon, let's reason this out. Sony has had Execs say untruthful things, but logically Tretton's not one of the guys, and it isn't a stretch at all.

In fact, Sony has more actual 1st party devs/studios than M$ and Nintendo combined, remember?

Good post, it seems people have underestimated Sony's 1st Party for some reason.

That's certainly true...don't forget the Fallout 6 month exclusive content, that recently was released. That's a fine strategy I guess, but as a gamer, I wouldn't mind M$ reversing this strategy and going for gusto on 1st party games again.

I guess having a few big AAE-AAAEXmas Titles is enough to satisfy the fanbase though.

This does not surprise me if it were true...Sony has the best first party games.

THEY SAID THEY HAVE 15 EXCLUSIVES in Development, and while that is what's called a SECOND PARTY developing the game, the game itself is actually a 1st party title.

Like EPIC and GeoW. EPIC is a 3rd party dev, but they are a 2nd party when it comes to GeoW1&2. GeoW1&2 are 1st party games, in development, due to M$.

EPIC now owns the GeoW series, it will be interesting to see what they do from here.

Anyways, These games are in Development, whether by contract or by their own 1st party, they are in development due to Sony.

Well considering they have ~15 first/second party studios, I fail to see how that can't be true?

Considering many Sony inhouse developers are MIA so far this gen, I wouldn't be surprised. Team Soho were pulled from 8 Days and The Getaways development and the games were canned or shelved. So one would think they would be being used for actual games instead of that steaming pile that Home is.

One would think Zipper would be put back at the helm for a new Socom given the series popularity on PS2

A Jak & Daxter PS3 title would fail to surprise

Also Sony's Japanese developers like Aquire of Tenchu (PS1 original versions) and Shinobido (PS2's Tenchu) who I think are Sony owned.

There are so many Sony developers and ip's that it's hard to keep track of. I mean how many great ip's were born on the PS1 only to never grace the PS2.... Colony Wars, GPolice, Raystorm, Einhander, Heart Of Deakness, Bushido Blade, Rage Racer, Moto Racer, Rapid Racer, Medievil, Tobal 1 &2, Fear Effect, Blasto to mention a handfull.

Then you have masses of great PS2 born ip's that haven't and may never grace PS3...SSX, Timesplitters (both these as well as the Burnout series were born on PS2), Mark Of Kri, Primal, Ghosthunter, The Getaway, and the list goes on.

It's not hard at all to believe that Sony has 15 PS3 exclusives in the pipeline.

15 exclusives wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Exclusives sell consoles, and seeing as they've lost so many exclusives trhis generation, they need t step up and come up with some more of their own.

I'm actually pretty stoked, because a lot of their exclusives have been really great lately.

It doesn't matter if they are PSP or PSN games, they are still exclusives that they are working on. Though only maybe 5 of them are for the PS3, it just shows how 1st party publishers and developers are the main developer of exclusive titles. They really can't rely on 3rd party devs anymore.

I actually kind of like that stratagy. A 1st party exclusive usually has some pretty high production values and more replayability.

I don't see why some people are so skeptical about this? Sony has shown in the past year and a half that first party is where their bread and butter is as far as games. The PS3 library from late 2008 up until now has been as good or better than any and 2010 looks to be no exception.

Also Sony is very lucky to have Jack Tretton. He speaks well and represents the company admirably.

Seems you and the poster you quoted are the only ones wearing goggles in this thread. The PS3 exclusive line-up is fine on it's own. No need to bring the PS2 into it.

It's the advantage of being in the business for more than a decade and plundering various development houses throughout the years.Sony's first party is a beast. It's definitely credible.
