Pretty much sums up the mainstream market. Meanwhile on the PC platform 1 man has created a mod Day Z that is more of a survival horror experiance than any PC/Console game prior to it.... in his spare time, and has over a million unique players while still being in alpha, which is a 1 of a kind experiance despite being buggy and unfinished. Meanwhile, we have The Last of Us, polished graphics, polished corridors, 10 hours, then collecting dust. people will buy it then trade it or bargain bin it. Good old industry, full of pot holes.

I don't expect perfection. Games are man made things, man is flawed, therefore nothing man ever tries or makes will ever be perfect. Only God is perfect.

All I ask from a dev is that they put their passion into it, they see it as an artform, a way to express ideas or emotions, give us an enjoyable expperience. Be creative. I hate devs that make games with crap SP and just tack on MP, games like Halo (inb4buttburtLems), BF, or just about any other shooter out there.

I don't see why people hate her either. She seems like an ok person to me. Plus she is so pretty. I am looking very forward to AC3, IMO it looks like GOTY material to me.

I can kind of agree. If you are spending tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars on a single game, I do expect some sort of quality in the game. Now if you are an indie or mid-tier developer, then I don't expect the same level of quality, the game can have tons of bugs and I will be okay with it, but I look at what unique things the games offer.

Heaven forbid that a developer should polish up what they're doing and get it right instead of biting off more than they can chew. I like innovation, but not if it compromises the quality of the finished product.

In general people tend to focus too much on the negative aspects of just about anything, pushing companies to focus on plugging leaks. So yeah she's probably right about that. Not much to do in the short run though I think.

True, gamers are the problems, the sooner devs stop trying to please our everydemand the better off the industry will be.

There's no pleasing everybody especially here at System Wars. A game might be as close to perfection as it can be and there will be reviews and awards to back it up. And yet, some will say that game is overrated, the reviewer is a fanboi, or was paid off by the game publisher. I don't envy the developers. They should just make a game the best they can and not worry about audience reactions.

She has a point. When the audience demands perfection or near-perfection, there is little room for experimentation. Probably because more effort goes into quality control than designing something new and original because there is a chance that the innovative systems could suffer from many bugs and that would turn off many gamers and cause the game to be labelled as "bad".

The title makes sense but then in the article her complaint is that QA is really hard so why bother. Lame argument. The rise of huge games should have been matched by a rise in QA and bug testing, not, "QA is really hard so why bother?"

I think we have to [embrace more mature themes]. Honestly, I think we are underestimating our audience theyre looking for something more. I mean, just based on the people I work with, the new generation of gamers want games to be about something else than just a context for killing 500 people within ten hours.

this is a joke

I read her stuff and then blacklist is the exact opposite. Makes me think she came in pretty late on that game.
