Jade Raymond working on a new IP for PlayStation

Longtime industry veteran Jade Raymond is heading up a new studio that will create original games for PlayStation. Raymond announced the news today via the PlayStation Blog. “We want to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community,” Raymond wrote about the new studio, Haven. “We want to pour our passion into a project. We want to make something wondrous for people to experience.”

Sweet.. Sony focusing on new games which is what they should be doing 😎.

A wonderful, talented woman who made excellent games and an excellent choice with Googly Stadia.

I enjoyed the AC series (especially in the early days when she was in charge) so I know she's capable of doing the job well. I look forward to seeing what she and her team have come up with.

Been looking forward to this news ever since she left in the wake of Google shutting down their game studios. Looking forward to seeing what she'll be working on.

Anyway I’m interested in seeing what comes from this but it’ll be a few years perhaps before we see or hear anything on what that may be.

I'm glad she is making something a ton of people will actually play rather than sticking with Stadia

Gotta say, her ability to keep finessing the bag out of these billion dollar companies is extremely impressive, tbh.

How she constantly gets these massive $billion corporations to keep throwing a massive bag at her, simply to attach her name/face/credibility to a project and make her the face of it, ending up going absolutely nowhere for years, before being quietly cancelled and closed down. That being said, very good get for the Cows who are.........very big fans of Assassins Creed 1 and Watch Dogs 1 I quess?

Something tells me Sony did this deal because they really needed something to put Playstation back in the news cycle, and get the whole industry including Playstation centric media/social channels to stop talking about Zenimax and Gamepass for a few hours.

It will be at least 5 years before this game ever touches a PS5, if it ever ships at all.

Only thing I've heard of him is that he likes to cosplay as Axel from Streets of Rage 4 when he goes to the supermarket.

Had no idea. Goes to the supermarket as Axel, come back home and plays Forza for 12 hours straight. Oh 🤷‍♂️

Another average game dev for the average PS.

I have heard of her from the TV show Electric Playground, awhile back, but I haven’t kept track of her since. I did enjoy Assassin’s Creed 1 so if she had something to do with that good on her.

Yeah... come to think of it, the news of all those devs and studios shut down or disbanded and signing on with PS and Xbox will probably start coming in at quite a steady rate now.

All I know is that it's good to hear/see news that SONY is actually doing something after all the ass whippings MS has been laying on them the past couple years. Hopefully a good sign SONY isn't just sitting on their thumbs and spinning in a non swivel chair.

According to wikipedia she had a hand in AC 1,2, and Unity, Splinter Cell, Far Cry 4 (my favorite FC), Metal Gear Solid 4, The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot (a game I played on my tablet for a while), and Star Wars Battlefront 2. Seems as though she has had her hand in some games I have rather enjoyed, so I look forward to seeing what she comes up with.

AC 1 is a good thing, but Watch Dogs never did anything for me.

Bolded part - Yeah... it seems as though SONY is trying to make some moves, probably in direct relation to pressure put on them by fans demanding answers to MS slaying them recently.

Honestly, I don't care why MS or SONY push to acquire more talent and kick out more games. Competition is a good thing, and I hope they don't stop now.

I would gladly take a game in the same light as either of those two games. If she worked on Splinter Cell maybe they are putting her on the heavily rumored SOCOM... then again, that's probably wishful thinking on my part, but it needs to happen damnit.

A 3rd person 8v8 and 4v4 game that is one life and tactical would be huge right now... the genre is hot and SONY is just sitting on an IP that if done right would be huge. Sad since they said they were going to concentrate more on multiplayer this gen and so far there hasn't been much of anything, or even much announced on that side of things.

You really think someone gets to be the VP of Stadia's internal dev division without the credentials?

She was in charge of building out Ubisoft Toronto and, then EA Motive.

FC5/6 and WD: Legion might be a bit of a stretch considering they released a few years after she left but, she was very much involved w/ BattleFront 2 and Squadrons at EA Motive.

Sure, she hasn't been a "dev" since 2009 but, she's been building studios for the last decade+ that develop AAA games.

Why do people think that she works for Sony or the game is PS exclusive? Do you think if Sony has opened a new studio the headline would be like it is now or something like Sony brought veteran producer to blahblahblah.
