It just got a price cut, so people are eating that up, giving it a temporary sales spike. The 360 has sucked in Japan from the start, so it's not suprising that it sucks now. Lastly, don't pick fights with the Wii in sales...

Famitsu love t3h moneyhats and hype, hence why appaling games score highly with them... Not that i'm saying this effects sales or anything, i totally believe the ps3 outsold the Wii in Japan. But I find it hard to believe thats true acrosss the board, especially here in the uk where my brother in law had to pay £250 for a wii for christmas instead of the usual £170.

Nintendo sold approximately 350,000 system in the US only in one week. The PS3 sold 322,000 in the US AND Canada in three weeks. This is with Nintendo still saying that they cant make enough Wii to meet the demand.

Sony has been performing horribly utill now. To actually catch up (if they can keep this rate up) will take most of the 10 year life cycle they have touted.

LOL @ "1 month straight". The Wii just sold 350K in one week in the US alone (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6183452.html). 360 has never done well in Japan and it never will. Its doing better than the original XB, but they never aimed for the 360 to be the #1 system in Japan. All they wanted was to get Japanese developers to make games for the system, which they've succeeded at doing.

The world isn't US, Japan, Europe or others, its US, Japan, Europe and others.

1) in regions where the PS3 is selling more than another console. If they are being outsold by a different console then those sales are irrelevant.

2) sales are only important in weeks (and perhaps on the occasion a whole month! :o )where the PS3 outsells a rival. Again if it outsold by a different console then those sales are irrelevant

3) vghartz weekly charts come out! see above for disclaimers, and they reserve the right at any point to slam vgchartz again if they change these numbers.
