Sorry if old.

From Kotaku.

"Respawn Entertainment marks a fresh start for Jason and me," Zampella said in a statement. "For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We're very proud of what we built – and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again — open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA."

"We're excited," West said. "Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve."

Its not to going to end well??

Pretty ironic that IW was created because of layoffs by EA and now they are back into EA.

So are we going to have three "modern warfare" esque franchises from EA now? :|

Should be interesting to see if they do create another FPS in that vein.

I was not serious.

Anyways, if they wanted, they could create a new studio and let Activision publish their games.

this is way too eerily similar to when the Guitar Hero guys left Activision and joined EA partners to create Harmonix

(btw EA partners means you retain all IP ownership and total control over your studio, EA simply funds the studio and publishes, but can't do anything if you want to leave to join a different publisher)

either way, Call of Duty is the new Guitar Hero, soon to be oversaturated and turned into crap, while the new studio comes up with something gamers appreciate

No it does not. I just checked several dictionaries and online sources and the definition has remain unchanged. Are you sure of this? Please name your sources, Verge, for they may be mistaken. I can do further research if you would like.

Say what you want, but IW are great developers, it should be great to see what they come up with free of Bobby Kotick's foul stench. FPS games sell, and if they are done well and hopefully have some fresh ideas, I welcome their offerings. if they somehow retain the Modern Warfare name, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, Activision really screwed themselves. I don't expect this to happen though, and even if it did, Kotick would keep it mired in legal proceedings until well after he beat the name into the ground with mediocrity.

There isn't much reason to believe otherwise given Activision's history.

I wonder if DICE will stop crapping on MW now that they're coworkers with the people who made that series or if the external fight now becomes an internal fight where they take pot shots at each other despite working for the same company. It'd be funny if EA through DICE on the back burner now that the big guns work for them. Other than that, meh. FPS aren't for me and now we can add yet another one to the release schedule.

They seem like decent guys who are enthusiastic about gaming in general, if COD 4 and MW 2 is any indication, these guys can head a good project.

hoping for the best, new job oppurtunities for people is always a good thing too.

Since those guys (2015 Inc.) and EA started Medal of Honor maybe we will get a new decent one? I really haven't enjoyed a Medal of Honor since Allied Assault and even then the first 2 Call of Duties were better.

I doubt very highly that EA would put DICE on the back burner. It is an incredibly well respected studio, and the Battlefield franchise has a huge fanbase.

I wonder if this is going to give them incentive to start a new IP instead of carrying CoD to EA and milking it further.

With Bodycount, Battlfield and Medal of Honor I think having MW as well (if West/Zampella win the suit) might be overkill.

I think they'll make a new IP since Activision owns the COD brand. At least I think they do lol. Pretty sure.

Considering how bad MW2 was I saw good riddence. If World At War is any indication Call of Duty is better off with Treyarch in charge.

yup they were apart of them, but I guess EA have layed off their drugs and be a good publisher, look at the awesome games that came out since
