Imo looks pretty great.

1.It looks like a mix of The Force Unleashed+Jedi Knight which is a good thing.(Slow down, double jump ,lock-on etc)

2.They also added some prince of persia platforming which I like since it adds more variety.

3.It's kinda slower paced but I like it.(Since we had lots of fast paced SW games. It's time for a slower but more tactical SW combat.)

4.The lightsaber vs lightsaber combat isn't as great as JK 2 and JA but at very least fighting with Stormtroopers and monsters is far better than those game.(Let's get real JK 2 and JA were terrible in that regard. Just a level 3 lightning and all stormtroopers are dead)

5.Force powers are less crazy than TFU but I don't mind a more grounded SW game.

The only complain that I have is this that the force is invisible. Imo the game will look much cooler when you can see the force because you can feel the impact of your force powers much better.

And by the records you could see the force in Jedi Knight and The Force Unleashed games.

Tl;DR Now I am hyped for it.

Generic and boring. Looks like the Battlefront 2 sp: a new protagonist with a droid on their back. Graphics look great, but the gameplay looks like a mix of God of War, Uncharted and Titanfall 2. Nothing new or original.

We've been playing games like this for generations. Shame as I was really looking forward to getting a sp Star Wars game. Not interested in this cookie cutter yawn.

About the only I liked was the actor playing the main character, who was fucking awesome in Gotham. It's also a reverse of Mark Hamil who started out as Luke Skywalker and went on to be known for The Joker.

The game looks like a very boring Jedi Knight lite. The map design especially looked absolutely inferior. Calling it map design would be generous.

Looks like a power fantasy simulator in slo-mo. An unchallenging slog of tank warfare. Every encounter seemed like a vignette. Just face character towards target, *boom*, rinse/repeat. Hell, the enemies even wait to become relevant when there is more than one... Trash.

Looks all sorts of boring, generic, uninspired and everything that's wrong with mainstream AAA games. People wouldn't give it a second look if you remove the Star Wars name.

During the EA stream, you could tell the audience wasn't even sure when or if to cheer. There were like two points where the reaction was genuine. Not a good look, especially considering the franchise/property and its pull with fans.

@uninspiredcup: @briguyb13: @ghosts4ever: @pc_rocks: Lol. The only thing you guys can say about it is "boring, unispired and generic".

You guys aren't even original in that.

God Of War itself was a mix of Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden and Onimusha.

Uncharted is a inferior clone of Tomb Raider with gears of war.

Tatanfall is a mix of COD and Prince Of persia.

I guess you never call any game "Original".

1.It's probably the first levels where the game is easier.

2.And this game is still in Alpha.

3.And by that logic I can also say that every FPS game is trash since you Just face character towards target, *boom*, rinse/repeat.

@dg1995: Except, enemies in most games don't just fall asleep waiting for your attention. Also, since it is in alpha, there's no need to take my criticism so defensively. You should want a faster and more fluid gameplay. It wont happen if nobody says anything.

What we saw was underwhelming. Even the crowd wasn't all that into it, and Star Wars isn't just filler branding. I stand by what I say. Hell, the fact that this thread has so few replies ought to clue you to something not being right.

Looks pretty good for an alpha build! A lot of the complaints is about things I expect to be fixed before release like AI, difficult and the general feel of using the force and extra gore etc. if this was exclusive people would hype it to the heavens and back!

Has potential. Slower-paced than I expected, and that's fine, if done right. Cal pulling a Kylo Ren on a blaster bolt was sick. AI needs a lot of work.

Hope it turns out good, otherwise EA will just go back to cranking out more Battlefronts.

It looks dull, and since it's an alpha it's understandable, but it will be released on november so the final product shouldn't be too different to what we have seen.

That has lots of reasons.

1.Disney kinda ruined the hype of Star Wars franchise.

2.It's from a publisher that it's previous SW games were disappointing.(And a publisher that has made lots of underwhelming games)

3.And it was more of a gameplay video than trailers.(Trailers will hype people much more than gameplay videos)

Yeah . They hyped games like Death Stranding that people were hyping it from the time that it only had a trailer of a naked man crying.

Looong article here if you are interested: https://www.gameinformer.com/feature/2019/06/08/the-true-power-of-the-force

I dunno, I'm a bit torn. Seems fine, but a bit standard. Wish they had made combat a bit more over the top. More brutal, more acrobatic moves, cooler finishers. The animations are not really up to scratch imo.

I'm sure it will be fine, but it wasn't super cool. Tbh it reminded me a bit of Darksiders 3 and not in a good way. Like it's a few levels below the best in the business (like God of War etc). I guess it makes sense being their first third person action game.

@dg1995: Okay, let's change gears here. What did you like about it? What is your opinion?

I mean... this franchise hasn't had slow-paced light saber combat since the original trilogy. Much of the Star Wars aesthetic is about fast paced and agile combat in the movies.

Further to that, the character is displaying powers way beyond other Jedi of his era despite not having completed Jedi training, even. You dont find that jarring?

@Shewgenja: I never said I hate the fast combat. It's just I don't mind getting a slower more tactical kind of lightsaber combat in SW game.

It's kinda similar to Star Wars X Wing vs Rogue Squadron franchises:

in Rogue Squadron, combat is far more fast paced and you have to blow up much more starfighters.

But in X Wing, Combat is far more slower but it's more tactical .

I ended up liking both of these franchises so I'm ok with slower lightsaber combat for a change.

Just gonna post this in-depth Game Informer preview.

Haven't read all of it, but apparently the game will be structured like Metroid Prime, with hubs and linear "spokes" to explore.

Also, the combat borrows heavily from Soulsborne games, but without the punishing difficulty. Yeah, at moments in the trailer I did get a little Soulsborne vibe; just in the movement, pacing and enemy telegraphing. Maybe they'll add a "Jedi Master" mode to go full Soulsborne-like, difficulty and all.

(I'll just copy/past what I said in another thread)

As a long time Star Wars fan, I'm personally excited for Jedi Fallen Order and this is an evolution to The Force Unleashed and mix with Star Wars 1313 which was cancelled years ago, if I didn't know any better, I say Respawn took the gameplay from 1313 and made it their own from the looks of it since 1313 was Uncharted clone set in Space. Seeing Saw Gerrera in this was a surprise and I can tell this game takes place before "Rogue One" so that's cool. Lightsaber cuts is impressive, a much better then Force Unleashed but Force Unleashed 2 corrected that though, Lightsaber needs to have that pure white with coloured outline like we always seen it.

Despite it's EA, I judge a game, not the publishers symbol on it. I know Respawn's track record and they did an amazing job with TF2 campaign, I'm looking forward to playing Jedi Fallen Order and no, I ain't paying $60, I'll play it through EA Origin Premier. Not gonna give EA $60.

Respawn, my faith in you was not misplaced :)

Looked interesting for the 15 minutes they showed it.

But if you're going to use Dark Souls combat, you better let us use other style weapons, not just a glow stick. And dress up the guy, or at least put a pink Vader mask cause he looks weird in game.

Looks decent... and since it's a SP game (and we've all been demanding it), we need to support it (as long as it's decent enough)!

Was hoping for a bit more to be honest. Combat looks decent, everything else looked blander than I was hoping for. It really does feel like a TFU clone with a little bit of FromSoftware combat but then again, TFU came out 10 years ago. It’s about time we got something like this again for current-gen. To me, this looks like Force Awakens mixed with Uncharted which is a good thing in my opinion.

Looked cool albeit generic but like always I'll wait for some reviews; especially from ACG and go from there. I have to be hyped to purchase day 1 and these days; not many games do that; much rather wait a few months for them sales. I mean Days Gone came out what? A month and a half back and it's $20...lol. Sucks for me purchasing that day 1 but it is what it is.

@dagubot: Pick up Days Gone for $30 yesterday and not a bad game then what the critics led on. Nothing wrong buying games day one but yes, always wait for reviews.

I'm just more excited were getting a Star Wars game that's focus on single player which is why I'm hype.

They kinda want to appeal to everyone. No doubt this will have campaign difficulty levels, as Respawn has done before with TF2... Which were pretty effective.

Yeah, I bought Days Gone day 1 because I'm a sucker for open-world games; especially with zombies...lol. Its had its fair share of issues with bugs and whatnot and long loading times when initially booting the game up but I've been enjoying the game; despite me playing it on or off. Deacon can come across a bit forced in character and isn't really a favorite of mine but the game certaintly looks pretty on the OLED and I enjoy the gameplay/exploration aspect of it. The heavy patches the developers have been pushing is welcoming though.

I haven't really been gaming much these past months and just relaxing enjoying other things to be honest. I sold my PC a while back and took a break from gaming for the most part. I plan on picking up some new parts soon and rebuild maybe around July? Want to see what AMD pulls up with. A lot of good stuff coming out this year that I want to play!

Looks great, but who wants another human jedi, let alone one who looks like Ani. At least his backstory is actually interesting and not just some lucky dipshit on a sand planet.

Outside that, I actually really like the actor, and I really like the story and game play looks great. Except this is EA, and they just put on the worst E3 video of all time and still have issues with their shit, and think this was a ploy to get people to like them......

It's a Trap!!!

I'm... Tentatively excited. It looks fairly solid. I'm not sure it will set the world on fire, but I have faith in Respawn after TF2's SP campaign, as it was pretty damn excellent.

Highly disappointing and loaded with PS2 era video game level design tropes.

  • Start out with a rope swing and wall running across specific path.
  • Trigger 2 minute cutscene.
  • Force Blast through a door... to immediately walk across the balance beam that is your only path (how convenient!). Linear narrow path.
  • Walk back out into "open"... only to force blast a bridge necessary to walk across. Linear narrow path.
  • Continue fighting down a narrow hallway with a handful of easily dispatched enemies... linear narrow path.
  • Trigger cutscene of mini-boss, dispatch miniboss.
  • Squeeze through a crack in the wall to move on... narrow linear path.... after 5 minutes I just skip through the rest...

Why do all the enemies move like they are stuck in the mud? Combat looks slow as molasses. If the combat looked better it might have been OK despite it's obvious boring linearity, but with this slow combat it looks like another potential (almost certain) flop to me.

I also don't get why they go with these unknown or newly invented characters like they did in Battlefront 2 campaign. Maybe Disney doesn't want their crappy EA game messing with actual Star Wars canon?

The combat looks shallow. Ideal game for cup.

It struck me as generic.

The Star Wars feel was definitely there. The game looked pretty cool but WAY too easy. I know our hero is powerful, but most enemies just go down too easily. I guess it makes sense to show 15 minutes gameplay without a lot of dying and retrying.

I hope the difficulty will be increased in the final product. Or give me a hard setting.

JA gameplay style doesn't work well in this era.

JA only has superior lightsaber vs lightsaber but it had lots of it's own problems:

1.Enemies suddenly dodge your attacks magically. Enemies also have some advantages over players(cultist masters have more powerful lightning compare to player ).

Some times enemies can cheap kill the players.(Instantly using an anti move, force pushing you to cliffs , gripping and stabbing you to death etc)

Snipers are also annoying in JK games.

2.Fighting stormtroopers and blaster wielding enemies was pretty shallow.(Just hold W, use force lightning level 3 , the end) . Some enemies like those jump troopers were also pretty lame.(A pain to kill without mindtrick)

3. JA also had some poor levels.(swoop bike mission, boba fett mission which was mostly running , that mission where you only have guns)

4.JA also had a pretty poor and straightforward level design.

Not every game needs to be "Open". By that logic 90 percent of games are bad.

For making a new character, that was always the philosophy of Star Wars games to always invent new characters in video games.(Excluding the movie tie in games)

1.In Dark Forces the main character was originally Luke but they decided to make a new character.(Kyle Katarn)

2.In TFU they thought about having Vader as the main character instead they made Galen Marek.

3.Shadows Of The Empire also had a completely new character. Dash Rendar.

4.In Republic Commando they originally wanted the clones to sound the same, but they decided to give each member of Delta Squad his own personality.

Looks great, but who wants another human jedi, let alone one who looks like Ani.

Yeah, let's boycott every Star Wars game until they make a game where a hutt is the main character.

looked way too easy

Every game looks easy in the gameplay trailers.(Since they always play in the lowest difficulty)

Looks like trash. I feel bad for anyone who has to settle for this licensed shovelware over a potential masterpiece like Death Stranding.

Because Death Stranding is an overhyped shovelware.

DS is an exploration focused game where whenever you die, you have to escape from a stupid underworld in order to get back.(Which is just there to artificially extent gameplay time)

Also combat in this looks much better than that button mashing melee combat of death stranding.

As a big fan of Star Wars, I have no intention of even watching anything from EA SW related. It's almost certainly going to be terrible, and you're gonna be better off acting like it doesn't exist to be able to remember that you actually like SW.

I will not be one to contribute to Disney and EA's butchering of the franchise.

@Litchie: Imo hating companies is completely stupid. Each company has it's good and bad things and that's it.

Lucas and Lucasarts weren't too good with the franchise back in the day.(Especially in PS3 and xbox 360 period where they only managed to make The Force Unleashed.)

The problem of Disney is that they listened to those basement dweller guys that hated the prequels.(Especially that overrated plinkett guy)
