Im not just using his opinion as mine, i thought quake 4 singleplayer was alright could of been better, but the multiplayer just sucked the level design was trash compared to quake 1,2,3.

I grew up using this site, and jeff's one of the people i grew up reading reviews from. seeing him=reminds me of gamespot lol he wasnt all that bad, some reviews i dont agree on, but hit nail on head on some.
Quake 4's multiplayer left me disappointed i mean really badly, the level design is simply crap, i mean the maps are so plain and boring holy crap whoever did quake 4 level design needs to be fired, jeff was right. i dunno jeff is one of the reviewers growing up i remember seeing on videos and reviewing games. Hey's it's that gamespot dude! LOL he's like the mascot LOL
The only editor who I kind of cared for was greg kasavin. Jeff could jump in a lake for all I care.

He reviewed a lot of multiplats and exclusives alike. I think it was him who gave GeoW a 9.6., quite deserving though imo.
Jeff was a pretty cool guy. So it was a shame he had to let his Xbox bias get in the way of his profession. If you take a look at Giant Bomb its clear which console they favour.

Say what you want about IGN, but atleast they have Bozon...and Cassamassassamassina, when he isnt pushing his stupid agenda. Best talking reviews are from Gametrailers though (IMO).

giant bomb reviews, podcasts, videos > gamespots reviews, podcasts, videos. Only redeeming feature of gamespot is the forums.

Very true, once GB gets bigger as in forums i doubt ill be here much. same. have you seen TANG? where they review video game movies. They even have that question of the week thing where users submit there own answers and then they make a montage of all the answers at the end of the week. The podcasts are hilarious, their reviews are a lot better (not just relying on some score) and the videos they make are hilarious.

Jeff Gerstmann was a great reviewer, why because he always told you actually what he thought about the game, LOZ: Twilight Princess and Kane and Lynch where good example, TP he saw didn't deserve an AAA score, so he gave it 8.8 instead and didn't care about the up roar it created because that's what he really thought it deserved. Same with Kane and Lynch, even though its not wise to bag a game your advertising (which in end you saw what happens when do that) but he did anyway and told the truth, its an average game.

Did you not hear there Game of the year edition podcast where the final games to decide was MGS 4 and GTA, and it was pretty split down with brad and ryan for it. Yeah they do seem to play the 360 more however i dont understand how that shows there bias, a reviewer does not need to play all 3 systems equally to not be considered bias, i understand they may like the 360 more however in their reviews there is very little bias i think.

Maybe bias is the wrong word but they are definitely geared towards the 360. They did a video review of Banjo Nuts and Bolts and not one for either littlebigplanet or Resistance 2. Come on.
Oh and this has nothing to do with 360 bias, but they spend way too much time talking about Guitar Hero and Rock Band on their podcast. A track pack warrants a 20 minute discussion apparantly.

Getting fired was the best thing to happen to him. He runs a great site now and their podcast is fun to listen to. Besides, in the process he became one of the most respected reviewers ever (not that he wasn't respected before). If you ask me, I'm glad to see some people take gaming journalism that seriously, especially in these days that it has became practically a joke.
