I've been trying to find everything I can about this game and hope it's really true and really coming to Xbox One, PC or even PS4 want some competition for Madden!!

It will be the biggest news outta E3 by far if it really is a Xbox One exclusive and has an NFL license....can't wait to know more!

I thought EA worked out a exclusivity deal for the NFL licensing. I don't think it will be official.

@bunchanumbers: it's all rumor and speculation some are saying it won't have a license for NFL others say EAs deal doesn't cover if MS releases and First Party Exclusive football game that it can also have an NFL license it's all muddy water and nothing has been confirmed its all secret squirrel until there is official word that's why I can't wait!!

Of course its happening, we just dont know whether it will be licensed or not. I am only here for JM 16 news brotha. Yes, finally a AAA football game. How can you hate on a game that simulates a real life sport game? Weirdos.

Joe Montana Football was one of my favorite Genesis games. It was was better than early Maddens. I forgot about the new one after the rumor of no NFL license.

You have to remember though, during the Xbox ONE reveal, Microsoft announced a deal and partnership with the NFL. Could this carry over to this exclusive title????

WOW I forgot how beautiful Seattle is when the sun is out! Never been on Microsoft campus before, this place is HUGE!”-Joe Montana

http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/evidence-joe-montana-football-16-is-an-xbox-one-exclusive/

For the foolish people who figure that it won't be licenced game MS won't waist their time with an unlicensed game because they know people don't want that.

"First-party stipulations that the NFL has always left open & the NFL’s exclusive relationship with Microsoft allows for Microsoft to have an NFL game"

For those who don't know MS is the official sponsor of the NFL

Leave it to the G.O.A.T to save us from Madden's tyranny. If it really has the NFL license, then it's a must buy as far as I'm concerned.

lol, no. Even Brady wouldn't give it to himself and has said so. Montana is the most clutch QB of all time, 4-0 in Super Bowls, and did it in an era where you could actually beat the shit out of the quaterback. I've always thought Brady has been the best of this era, but there's only one Joe Montana.

At the least I would venture that Brady at least is worthy of being in the discussion, because no one else is even in the same stratosphere. That said his first 3 rings were when you could hit the Quarterback, it wasn't like there were no defenses in 01, 03, and 04, shit the Patriots were a legit defense in 03 and 04. Joe is a beast though.

Sure, but it's an ESPN worthy topic. Compared to the 80's, it isn't even comparable to the amount of abuse QB's received. The sack Joe received from LT probably would warrant suspension today. As for the SB's themselves, Brady won his first 3 because of Vinatieri. Joe took down Marino and Elway, and to the latter, it was the biggest blowout in SB history. That, and Joe had no interceptions in any of his SB appearances either.

Not really sure. I just know I would be happy. Not sure why they'd cry over it, in all honesty. We're talking about losing at most 2M sales, generously, if everyone who buys Madden annually all exited stage right and bought a new XBone for this.

Madden 2013 sold 1.6M in two weeks across ALL platforms

That's 1.6, not 16 million fyi.

@Shewgenja: how many people do you think stopped giving a shit about Madden cause it stopped being decent even. You should use ur head a little madden is stale and people are tired of it, sales show that. But something new, I'm not talking 10's of billions but a surge in the 100's of thousands and getting more people to look at Xbox One and what they are doing with windows 10. Would be an excellent move, what's that US gap 800,000 doesn't seem that large does it ;)

I'm from the UK and don't care for American style football but some of you are just tiresome. Judging people because they like sports games? GTF out of here!

Played Madden way back in the 16 bit era, I enjoyed it. Can't get into the sport just because it's too stop start for a man bred on rugby league but so what.

@Heil68: the only way I could see it being at least a little decent without the NFL license is if A deal was made with the NFLPA and you could use vets, 80's, 90's and past even more recently retired guys like Favre, ocho cinco, moss, and such. I'd be ok with that especially if the actual gameplay was solid then see what next years version can do.

Possibly, but it would probably sale poorly if you are going for a realistic type football game.

I think MS can get the official license with their deal with the NFL. If they make another Football game like the 2K series, I'm in. That was the last football game I liked. I tried 1 Madden since, and it left a sour taste in my mouth so i gave up on it until EA didn't have exclusive rights anymore. Since MS is in bed with the NFL, I see this happening.

It's definitely happening, the pics from Montana's Twitter acct made that clear. It's also a pretty good bet to be some sort of "MS ecosystem" exclusive (lul). Nothing's been confirmed there but the reports seem to point in that direction, and tidbits like Montana tweeting from the MS campus hint at it.

Is it going to be licensed? Very unlikely, which makes you wonder why they'd try it now at all. EA stated in a financial call last year that they had "a couple of years left" on their (quietly extended) NFL deal. Also, all of the leaked pictures of JM16 are of fake teams in fake stadiums with Joe Montana playing. The only hope for licensing for the game this year would be that A: the EA deal was extended, but allowed platform manufacturers to bypass it (ala the 2k baseball deal), and everyone has known this (Sony,MS,2k,ect.) for over a year and no one mentioned it just to be nice, AND B: The game devs are purposefully building fake stadiums, teams, and players to intentionally make it seem like they Don't have the license that they Do - even though announcing the license would give the game a much much higher profile with fans - because gosh darn it, it was funny. It also assumes MS is willing to make an aggressive move against EA, whom they have a close relationship with from Titanflop, to the EA subscription service, to a deal marketing Madden itself. Another theory has it that because MS paid mega bucks to the NFL, they could make the NFL void their EA contract, but that's so stupid it doesn't deserve discussion.

The best guess I have for them releasing an unlicensed game this year is that part of the reason the NFL agreed to extending the EA contract was EA threatened to walk away without a deal, and they didn't see a viable replacement on the horizon. Putting a quality - though unlicensed - JM game out would show the NFL that there is an alternative avenue to putting out a quality NFL game if the bidding is reopened or exclusivity dropped all together. And if bidding is reopened, I would not be a bit surprised if MS gets a dea, and also makes a play to take NFL gaming exclusive. Hell, we all know MS loves to shovel money at the NFL. In fact the only ing that might prevent that is the NFL deciding such an arrangement was bad for their fanbase or image, and refused.

I've heard the names, there resumes wouldn't stack up favorably though. Plus the competition thing works both ways. Unitas might have had harder rules, but defenses weren't as complex, and the athletes weren't roided up freaks of nature in his era.

Elway is a matter of how much rope you want to give him for at least making it to the superbowl 3 times, and not punishing him for getting straight blasted.

That picture looks like it isn't an official NFL game, but if it does get the license then I'm in because 2k football was so much better than Madden ever was. I remeber the 1st one on the Dreamcast. I instantly fell in love. Haven't bought a Football game since EA screwed the public out of decent football games.
