Joyride will be a lot like most Asian-based MMOs: free to an extent; if you want the good stuff, you'll have to pay for it.

Modnations Racers is virtually guaranteed to be a crazily fun and unique racer with so much content your head will explode. Joyride, looks like a chessy, micro-transaction based game that will be forgotten quickly.

Meh to both. Modnation Racers looks just like LBP: charming and customizable, but the gameplay won't be anything to write home about and you'll be nickeled-and-dimed to death with DLC (despite it being a full-retail game). Joyride has the advantage of being free, but you'll be all-but-forced to buy content and I can't imagine it'll set the world on fire in the gameplay department either.

Haven't played JoyRide so I can't say but ModNation Racer is pretty fun and have nice customizations.
