While I don't deny it is an interesting idea and probably the first step to the idea we all have on what video games will be in the future (immersive games that merge reality with some kind of VR enviroment) there's something that makes me wonder if this is the right step or the best idea to implement in videogames.

It's nothing new to see some stupid kid trying to mimick what he/she does in videogames and ends up doing something really stupid that might regret his whole life. We all know how GTA has been accused of having this kind of influence on people. Granted, stupid people who are carried over the feeling of being able to do what they do in videogames with no retaliations cuz that's the way videogames are, but not the real life.

I'm pretty sure that, eventually, violent games based on the Natal Project will rise and that "feeling" will be even bigger.

After all, one great character said so:

"That's the way they want you to think, to remove you from the fear that goes with battle situations. War as a video game -- what better way to raise the ultimate soldier?"

Now, I'm not saying that this is MS ultimate agenda, but as far as this kind of immersion get (bigger and bigger with each Next Gen I'm sure of it) that quote will be easier to pull off.

Thoughts??

My dad makes the same comments. He thinks that violent video games are meant to desensitize us to violence (which they do), in order to have stronger future citizens.

While I'm excited that virtuallity in video games is a few footsteps away I still would like controllers to be implemented.

Games aren't the problem

If 100,000,000 people play violent games, and one person goes on a shooting rampage then that person was messed up in the head. The game didn't make him do that, and I'm pretty sure that the justice system of our nation has decided this as well.

People wont get confused over casual games. Maybe in the future they'll have core games(I doubt,) but all I see for now is casual games,

Well, Nintendo already has Madworld and The Conduit, so it's inevitable that "core" games will come eventually.
