Just beat Halo 1, now on to Halo 2

No I think pt 1 was decent.  Not mind blowing or anything but really solid.  Now part 2 :x....

Having never owned an Xbox my friend lent me the two Halo games to play on my 360. Halo was a blast my only gripe was the lack of boss battles and repetitious level design.

Halo 2 has better cut scenes, better story,excellent level design,  but they raped all of my favorite weapons and managed to make the fire fights feel a little less strategic. Oh and still no boss battles.

Over all Halo was more fun but Halo 2 had more food for thought. If Halo 3 can blend the two then it should be a satifying end to the series.

Look Halo 1 had a good story, and so did 2 - initally - but was woefully executed and told.

Halo 1 and 2 are very good console FPS games, and enjoyable. Compared to PC FPS.... Well I dont want to go there - but yes comapred to console FPS Halo is fantastic.

 MGS's storyline does cream Halo's though. Kojima is a master.  Actually there are harly any action games, even RPG's aht have as good story, or memorable / iconic characters.

    Sales mean everything. Gaming is a business. That is how you judge a business, by how profitable it is.

Halo: CE and Halo 2 both offer good single player campaigns. Most people complain about Halo 2 only because of the cliff-hanger ending, which is understandable since it is frustrating, but it was done for a reason...to get us hyped about Halo 3.SpruceCaboose

The cliffhanger was cool, they hit you with some shocking twists, and them BAM.

IN all seriousness, those boss battles  were a sinch - even on Hard. LoL I killed Tartarus with ye sword in a minute flat - while the sergents voice was still playing.

He kinda lay there dead, as the sergent screamed somthing like "yo mo-hawk, get some of this" or somthing :P  Lol yea that was memorable :D

    I know it irritated me, but I was not one to complain about it. It just makes me wish 3 was here already! :D

I dont think they're comparable actually, MGS' storyline is great because of its cinematic presentation, plot twists and characters. Whilst Halo's story is a great piece of sci-fi storytelling, thats incrediby deep if you wish to delve into the backstory a bit.

Maybe i'm not getting my point across here ? ah crap.....

Agreed, unfortunately though he'll never get the same experience we got from Halo:CE if he gets in now, but its most definately worth the purchase.

Huh? You're not interested in the storyline, yet you feel like you can criticize it for not having as good a story as MGS. Don't knock it till you tried it, man.

I wouldn't say sales mean EVERYTHING.  They definitely aren't a good indicator of quality.  50 Cent:  Bulletproof has shown us that.

Heck, you simply have to look at what movies/music can be successful but still crap to see this (cough, Norbit, Night at the Museum, Spiderman 3, Nickelback, cough).

With that said, I do think that Halo had great single player, and Halo 2's was mediocre.  I played through the campaign of part 1 many times, but with 2 I only had the desire to play through once.

I've played through Halo CE so many times that I know the levels almost as well as I know the inside of my house, still going to play it some more though!

I might play through Halo 2 SP, i've only played through the whole thing a hand full of times (sometimes I play the odd level).

Agreed. I've never played a gam so over-rated like Halo. I expected it to be revolutionary, but it seemed like a average FPS game to me. I had more fun playing Perfect Dark N64 than Halo 1 and thats at least half the fun of playing it...
