Just can't believe how bad the 360's hardware is...

Whats wrong with MS? Even after what, 2 years the console still has hardware issues...and whats even worse, M$ are still dodging the issue...what was it that Good ol' peter moore said about the whole thing? "Y'now, things break" I mean seriouslly, what kind of a response is that?

Now with the recent article/interview...the guy who is actually responsible in building the thing...still trys and dogdes the issue. COME ON!

Was this MS plan to sell more or something...cause i don't recall even the PS2 plagued by that many issues. You would think the PS3 would suffer more knowing how complex it is...but NOPE, sony designed it WAY better this time. (good on them)

When will the new Smaller CPU's come out? Are MS doing anything about this?

The ps2 was suffering the problem until the slim was released, that was 4-5years later, microsoft is doing pretty well to fix the problem if you ask me. New Heatsink and 65nm Chip for Fall.

First, my 360 was purchased on Dec 18, 2005, and I have had zero problems. As you can see by my Gamerscore below, I play it quite often. (10,000 points is alot.)

Second, nobody knows the failure rate. All we have are rumours. If the failure rate was huge, it would effect profits and it would have to be reported by MS. MS is publically owned so they must report their financials.

Finally, the "new CPU's" not being made to fix a mistake in the current CPU's. All console manufacturers make changes to bring the cost of production down. Was the DS Lite made to fix the DS Heavy? Was the slim PS2 made to fix the fat one? No. They were made to drive costs down. (By the way, the Wii was actually a cheaper Gamecube until Nintendo was caught off guard by Microsoft. That's right, all Wii owners paid $250 for a slim Gamecube.)

Well mine does still work (although its not a launch unit) but you would have to be insane to say that the PS2 didn't have hardware reliability issues. The same is true for the 360, you would have to be nuts to think it doesn't have issues, especially in light of the interview posted in the forums here today where all hardware related questions (mostly dealing with reliability) were essentially answered, "No comment".

Could care less, mines working, and Dead Rising is about 1000 times more next gen then anything on the ps3.

Hmmm I reckin this here guy is referin' to is your opinion on how MS are deaing with the issue. Which I agree with, we xbots are getting short-changed on all fronts as much as ps3 owners at this point, the only difference being psn users don't have lag.

Ever heard of the exploding PS2s and the PS2s that have a maximum life expectancy of 2 years. Ninty make quality stuff, it doesn't break like n00bs MS and Sony who have only been making consoles for a few gens .

I am a little suprised that the public is taken back by Microsofts quality. The Xbox 360 is just another product by Microsoft that lacks quality and innovation.....just like everthing else Microsoft makes.

Buy an extended warrenty and you are covered for 3 years and at this point with all the practice they have had in the repair shop (lol) the turnaround time is pretty fast.

I can't even attack the user end of this because no matter how people mistreat the system it's still MS's fault for not making the thing more idiot proof.

it used to be once a week one of my friends would hafta send there xbox back (me included). but it is getting better seeing as how i havent heard of anyone sending theyres back in a while. so what if it does break? MS extended EVERYONES warranty to a year from wen u bought it, even if u didnt buy a warranty. so u call they send u a box u send the console back w/o ur hardrive and they send u a new one or fix yours. thats what i call customer support.

IMO theyre handling it very well.

Its not bad. Its fine. The interwebz just blow everthing out of proportion.

I would like to say that I have a launch 360 and I have never had any scratched discs or red lights. Also, I have a launch gamecube that still runs like a champ. And, I have a PS2 from 2001 that plays every scratched disc that I put in it.

My point is that I think the PS2 and 360 hardware problems are blown way out of proportion. A few highly vocal anecdotal responses are not representative of the population.
