I was reading the recent Apple console thread, and was just wondering.

Me, I use a Macbook Pro.

I just think Macs are much more user friendly and easier to get around. Its the first Mac I've had, and since I dont play PC games its no problem. and they dont get viruses, which is very nice.

I have both, but use my Mac alot more for things like internet browsing, Photoshop etc. The only time i'd turn on my PC is to play a game or if i need to use a program that isnt compatible with the Mac OS.

i dont use vtech PCs...i use real PCs. ooooo zing :P j/k (i actually said that to a mac fan and he nearly killed me....to right too :P.)

seriously...i used to have a mac years and years ago...but i just find myself more drawn to PCs. i suppose its due to the gaming (its why i also use windows instead of linux) but macs dont really fit my needs. some lovely hardware though (8 core monster....oooo lurvely) but its a bit on the pricey side.

I'd say yes. But i think its an opinion thing. I bought the iWork pack thing, which is like apple's Office. And its really easy to use. I had Office 2004 for mac, but it ran kinda sluggish. I do a good amount of video editing, so clearly I use it a lot for that. All my engineering classes run on PC's though.

Haha yeah, I know, just pointing out some hypocracy. I actually build my own PC's, but right now I'm using a Lenovo/IBM ultraportable.

I use an Acer quasi-gaming laptop. I considered a Mac but they're too expensive (~$1300 CAD for a base Macbook at the time, while my Acer set me back only ~$1000).

I had one back in the 90's before they went glam, I thought it was far superior to Windows. I just had to switch to PCs because when I would go to Best Buy, there would be like four full isles of PC software and 1 isle of Mac software.

Thats why I had to switch to PC back in the 90's because I could not get any Mac programs. But I do applaud the comeback Apple has made over the past ten years. They were about to kick the bucket, then the iPod came and saved their sorry a$$. Then when It came time to buy a laptop, i thought macbook pro was the way to go. At colleges macs are, at least on my campus, just as popular if not more popular among the students.

seriously? Macs do everything just as good, if not better than a PC. With the obvious exceptions of gaming and programming.

I only use a MacBook Pro, and when I want to play games I switch to windows XP and Play. So I get the best of both worlds. (Also I only use 2 programs [not including games] on the XP side.)

The proprietary hardware will likely keep me from ever owning a mac. That and I really don't see the reason to pay the extra money.

Having tried out a Macbook in a Apple store near where I live i've decided to get one when I can afford a new computer around the end of the year. I do more or less all of my gaming on my PS3 so I have no need for a PC that has a graphics card that costed more than the PC itself. I also hear that Mac's are ALOT less likely to get viruses which is something that really appeals to me.

I use macs at school mainly because there color palette is different that is why I can't design at home since I have a PC and the Color Palette on PCs and Macs are completely different take my banner for my profile I made that at School and it looked really dark their but on a PC the colors look too light. Even though PCs generally have a darker Palette and Macs usually have a lighter Palette. So if your school work is Graphic Design then Macs are great for Schoolwork.

I've been using Mac's since I was 8 (PC since I was 12). MAC's are definitely better for visual and audio stuff. And they rarely ever get viruses or spyware.

Well i use a pc, because a mac, however good it may be, is just too expensive. And though i dislike m$ i got windows with the pc, or it would have probably cost me MORE, and i don't feel like studying a different OS right now.

Recently, I bought an iMac and I love it... I put in 4 GB of Ram and it obliterates any task I put in front of it... it runs so fast! I like the interface, animations, and well everything. I used to have a gaming rig, but found that I barely played games on it at all... besides I have a PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii for gaming... so I sold it and managed to get some profit from it. I bought a brand new iMac.. this is what I have...

24 inch: 3.06 Ghz

  • 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 4GB memory
  • 500GB hard drive1
  • 8x double-layer SuperDrive
  • NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory

Got it for $1,000 from a friend... don't ask how O_o... I DIDN'T! It is the best computer I have ever owned BY FAR and I doubt I'll ever switch back to Windows...

I got a MBP for about $2500. One of the best investment of my life, but i can't help but think that I can get an ultimate badass PC for that price. No complaining here though.

Stop. By saying that, you're making the generalization that all PC's are unreliable and all Macs are reliable. But that is most definitely false. You need to not make such hasty generalizations. Macs DO fail. More so than you think.

You do have a point, i shouldn't generalize, I based my statement on statistics and probabilities.
