I just downloaded the Call of Duty 5 Beta and my fears about this game have been put to rest. Treyarch may have finally done exactly what they should have with a Call of Duty game, which is take the latest Infinity Ward game, and just add a new coat of paint. This game plays almost exaclty like COD4 with World War II guns in World War II locations. The only real gameplay difference I have seen is the addition of vehicles. This game seems to be miles better than COD3 as the core COD gameplay has remained intact. Also, the graphics are very nice to look at.Il_Exile_lI
so in short you mean this game is nothing new just cod4 in ww2.

Yes, the beta is pretty fun.
I think Treyarch is a very under rated developer. They're great, really. The only thing thats ever held them back is short development periods. They not only are good at making shooter, but action adventure and sports games as well.
For this reason, I'd go as far as to say that they are better than Infinity Ward. It's a real shame how the developer is treated.
Hopefully Call of Duty: World at War and Spider-man: Web of Shadows change this.
oh awesome i cant wait until this game comes out! so how big are the maps? bigger than COD4's i really hope so and how about aiming down the sights... some games make it difficult to do so sometimes.adders99
I haven't played all the maps and I find myself having a bit of trouble finding my way around, but they seem to be a decent size. Once cool thing is that the gametype War from COD3 is back, which was one of the few things I liked about COD3. As far as aiming, it takes some getting used to, I have been spoiled by the red dot:P

Kind of like how Call of Duty 4 was simply Call of Duty 2 with a new coat of paint?
Aside from the regular stuff though WaW will have vehicle combat and co-op for campaign.

lets see - the jump from cod2 to cod4 was huge.
but cod5 or cod:waw is just milking the fanbase - based on same engine, same multiplayer gameplay (perks, killstreaks, etc) and releasing barely after a year.

explain whats really all that new compared to cod4...
Co-op Campaign, new story, new maps, new weapons, new perks, new killstreak bonuses, addition of vehicles, and new gametypes.
I am not saying they are reinventing the wheel, I am just saying that they are building upon something that is already great, as opposed to butchering it.

But their not adding much. Vehicles are not needed in COD so IDK why you think their a good thing. COD series was never about Vehicles.
also again their not adding much. only like 2 new perks and 1 gametype pretty much.
it sounds like a PC mod you could download for free really.
Where can you download the Beta my good man?-CheeseEater-

I wanted COD4 to be set in WW2 so for me it isn't milkage at all. I got to play one of the best shooters ever in COD4 and now I get to do that but in my favourite setting. If that isn't worth £30 a year then I don't know what is. I mean how different should a War game be? Crysis?
...oh, actually I do know what else would be worth it, a big fat bucket of 'StopYerWhining'

Treyarch made a game based on COD4's features (which is a quality game, several GOTY awards?) . They changed the setting back to WW2 changed killspree awards and added more stuffI don't see whats wrong with it, sorry
Seems to me they gave people pretty much what they wanted but in WWI skins. So you still get these people B%@!g about it...D%^d if you do...D%^#d if you dont..Poeple have to gripe and complain about everything. Dont buy the game if you dont want it.
But im sure most of you will. I think you just want to complain because its just a part of who you are...

You are whining about milkage. Why should they stop if they make quality games every year that people buy and enjoy playing? Should they stop so it doesn't offend your idea of how long release schedules should be? :P.
no way it isn'tso isnt that indirectly milking you !
cod3 was a joke. cod4 played like cod2 with improved graphx and multiplayer gameplay.
cod5 is bringing nothing new to the cod franchise. (vehicles have been done b4 in cod:uo)
jaisimar_chelse
It's called good sense and knowing where the market is
Both Activision an Treyarch are not stupid. COD4 is popular, Treyarch knows this obviously, so they decided to bring you more COD4 gameplay in a new setting. that's not milking
just played a couple of matches. The games is real fun and plays exactly the same as COD4.
maps are great too

ugh. its people like the OP that made this game as bad as it is. all the whining about them making changes and now we have COD4.5 with new skins and models and historically inaccurate scopes.
it's lame as hell. if you have COD4 give it a rent first, you might feel really ripped off otherwise.
