Well i decided to put the PS3 in retirement for a while and pick up Zelda Skyward Sword and a few other games for my Wii.

After my raging frustration from freeze up's and lag's and then viewing those articles yesterday about the 512 ram split into two 256 sections for graphics and memory on the PS3, which was creating the large save file and lag problems, that would most likely not be able to be fixed with an update, i had enough.

So i set up my black Wii and began Zelda Skyward Sword today, then later maybe some Dawn of Discovery and Super Mario...that equates to much more fun to me than having to wait for lag to work itself out or having to restart my frozen PS3.

I mean i bought the PS3 again primarily for Skyrim and stupidly i was one of the one's who waited outside at midnight for the collectors edition of Skyrim.

Well i traded in the Skyrim and picked up Skyward Sword, i'm done with all the lagging and freeze up's.

You guy's say what you want about the Wii hardware, but i'll tell you this, it smoothly run's every single game thats made for it......so i'm happy.

What good is a super powerful console if it doesn't work? This is one reason Nintendo is at the forefront of gaming. They actually run QC on their products BEFORE release to make sure they play games. Sony usually is good on their hardware though. It's really Microsoft that has faulty hardware.

Yeah well if the Wii only had better 3rd party titles i would be quite content with playing that full time, i already know i like their 1st party titles, but i need better 3rd party support. I'm not someone who cares a whole heck of alot about playing online, or about fancy HD graphics, if the game looks good and plays good, with good reviews, then i'm happy.

Your obviously not one of those people that believe in the old saying " You get what you pay for ", i am. i've had my MAC for over 2 years and not one single problem with hardware or software, no error messages, no pop ups, nothing. In fact i recently brought into the Apple store to upgrade the 4gb of ram to 8gb and it was during thanksgiving week so they were really busy, it took 5 days. In which case i had to resort to using my wife's new PC laptop with Windows 7.....and that was pure misery, it made me miss and appreciate my MAC in the first 10 minutes of use. It took what felt like forever for me to be able to use the browser, and any other program i wanted, and then i had to read and click all these update boxes and antivirus things that kept popping up, it even took me 20 minutes to be able to access the google chat. Everything is easier and especially FASTER on a mac, it's a shame you stubborn PC fanboys will never realize that.

LOL i don't have to justify anything, walk by or into any MAC store if you can get in with the mob of people in there buying apple products, they speak for and sell themselves. I don't recall anyone crowding around the PC sections of a Best Buy or Target store for a PC or PC tablet, in fact i don't recall there being a retail store PC products only, i wonder why that is ?... oh wait now i remember, ....BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS THEM.

Yeah...this hasn't been true since...well, pretty much Win Vista because you like it or not Win 7 is a much better OS, 20 mins to access Google Chat? maybe the issue is the Lap Top, you know a 2000 year machine would have troubles with W7.

Anyway on topic, you should also get No More Heroes, Little King Story, Metroid Prime Collection, Okami, TvC, DKCR, Muramasa for the Wii, excellent games and a must play for every Wii owner IMO.

TC in your original post you're complaining about the 512MB ram split into two 256MB sections? Welcome to 2011 where that's been known for around the last 5 years. That was even one of the main complaints John Carmack had 4 years ago when trying to program RAGE to run on it. I'm sorry you bought a PS3 just for Skyrim but maybe eventually Bethesda should get things sorted out. On the other side, you won't find me complaining about Wii hardware as I've been happy since I got mine back in May.

I'm curious what hardware that laptop has in it as once any/all of my different Windows 7 machines are booted, it only takes a few seconds to start any of the 5 web browsers I have installed on them. IE9, Firefox 8, Chrome 15, Opera 11 and even Safari 5. I personally have not used google chat, but I'm sure that would also come up very quickly. As far as updates, isn't it better that a company is trying to fix something than just let it be? How often does iTunes want to update? Safari? How often does Apple charge money for a .X update for the OS rather than just let you get updates?

Are you serious? PCs with windows sell way more than macs.

Oh and while the wii is great, you're not going to be able to play a huge amount of games if you just play on it.

lol, skyrim, the 472,643rd straw that broke the camels back, then drove the camel deep underground where it was then subjected to such intense fail pressure from all the other straws that it transformed into petroleum was then pumped out of the ground and used in the production of some hd remake that sells because backwards compatibility was removed from the system.

TC, the problem with MAC's is not their quality, its their price. I know they have to make profits on their computers, but Its just the insane cost they have on them. I can build a good PC for £800, Apple would sell it for close to £2500.

Whoa whoa whoa!... Don't generalize film editors and graphics designers as Mac fanboys; although, I agree that the majority of the graphic design population would fall under Mac(only) users, but I'm not one of them. I've done vfx/film editing as well as graphic design in my last 2 jobs, and they (mac and PCs) both have strengths and weaknesses. I would like to use both for different reasons... the only thing that stops me from buying a Mac (for home use) is the price... I can build a faster PC for much less (it just looks more attractive, financially) and it's not as difficult to build a PC than what most people think. Many Mac users claim that their machines are more reliable and less prone to errors...but I've had my experience of crashes and freezes on a Mac and PC, during my years at art school, and I don't see much of a difference in occurrences. And the money that was saved from building a PC can be used to buy/upgrade parts if something were to fail...

i'd tell you one thing. going from pc to the ps3 is a different universe. from my personal experience everything is so clunky and slow on the ps3, after dealing with steam. its hard to explain but things feel so clunky on the ps3.

Indeed lol

Maybe if TC had just bought a PC over a Mac in the first place he could have bought Skyrim for the superior platform and wouldn't even have to bother with the PS3 version, but alas...

Does Skyrim even run on Mac, I'm to lazy to check but imma guess no :P

Wow TC, I was with you until you started that. I believe in getting what you pay for and I get everything plus more than what you can do on a MAC, on my PC but there is a difference, I paid less than $800 for the same thing you paid $3000 for, and the kicker is, more stuff is compatible for my PC. Yep even computer games. Have fun with that overpriced, name brand less compatible PC. Also, I've seen alot of MAC's with viruses, hardware and software failure so don't even try to pull that card. Heck, that Mac don't even give you the whole apple for crying out loud. Just look at the Apple Logo, they gave you leftovers.

There WOULD be a specialty store if PC's were only distributed under a single company like Apple. The reality is that PC's are developed by a wide variety of companies, providing a larger range of products through a much larger list of retailers. The reason why you usually see a crowd at the Apple store is because they are the main distributor, and their product line is much more limited. The only difference between a Mac and PC is the operating system and casing. Apple is brilliant at marketing their products. They have established themselves as the "cool" and "innovative" company to the casual consumer. Don't get me wrong, Apple does sell quality products, but I don't like the pricing of their products, nor do I enjoy seeing the amount of control they maintain on their own hardware. Look at the world today...many casual consumers buy things because they look attractive, or because it's the next cool thing to have. This holds true with Apple products. Trust me, you can get a quality PC for less than the price of a Mac...

Yeah tell that to my 3rd original xbox. You can't even pause the original xbox for 5 minutes, and come back to it. If you try to do that, you get a disc read error. Really? That mess cost me countless attempts and lots of wasted time. Microsoft hands down has the most faulty hardware without a doubt.

Lol'd

From my IT experience, I've usually found that the majority of people who own a Mac do because it's either (A) more attractive (which they are, generally, their hardware aesthetic is very sleek) or (B) know hardly anything about computers and have bought into the lie that Macs are simpler (which they're not, they're just as headache inducing as any other computer system). I won't ever own a Mac until they can cater to my PC gaming needs and they hardly give it enough attention to warrant my interest.

this gen they really flubbed in hardware manufacturing tis true. plenty of people still have their original 360's though also plenty of people had to buy multiple PS2 last gen as well as PS1's their first gen. 360 is the most faulty out of all the consoles that ive heard of but ill take MS's one flub of a machine over Sonys double take anytime...ijs ;) at least we got a decent warranty out of the situation.

Isn't this a software issue though, rather than a hardware one? It hardly seems like its Sony's fault if a third party releases a buggy game.

wait, so MS has the high quality game that runs and it has the defective hardware? no one even mentioned the 360!

That makes sense.

It's the Ps3's fault Bethesda has the worst Programmers in the industry.

funny story...zelda SS has a show stopping bug. if you do certain things in a crtain order you cant finish the game. it does take a very specific set of steps to happen but if it does its basically start again time (no bad thing since SS is awesome). ninty also screwed up a bit with paper mario on the wii. similar story (except its not a show stopper). if you do certain things in a certain order the game will lock up the wii. these are pretty minor compared to obsidian or bethesda games (though the SS one is pretty nasty if it happens) but no one is perfect.

no but if the company intentionaly releases hardware that is difficult to program for then you get whats should be expected...

yeah but on the wii and especially with nintendo games situations like this are extremely few and far inbetween. none are perfect but the wii is without a doubt the closest in solid hardware and software...

So... basically you had enough of Bethesda releasing broken games on the PS3!?!? Good, me too! Let's not buy their games on PS3 and send them a message.

The hardware on the PC laptop is a 2.6ghz processor, 320gb hard drive, 2 gb of ram, 512mb video card, so it's not the hardware, it's the lousy operating system.

As for as updates go, Safari and itunes might update once a month, taking only about 30 seconds from start to finish, but when does apple charge for an OS update? MAC OS X Snow Leopard and OS X Lion are two new and different operating systems and were only $29.99 on release day.

When a new Windows OS is released they cost no less than $150.00 plus, depending on which of the 5 different editions you want, and the price only goes up from $150.00....lets not forget about all the anti virus crap you have to put on there, so if i were you i wouldn't be talking about costly OS's and software because Microsoft charges through the teeth for their OS's and there software like Office and many others.

I'm not buying anything on PS3, in fact i'm most likely trading it towards my son's christmas present of a new 360, so it can help take a chunk out of the christmas budget. Then we'll just have a Wii60 household.

TC, the problem with MAC's is not their quality, its their price. I know they have to make profits on their computers, but Its just the insane cost they have on them. I can build a good PC for £800, Apple would sell it for close to £2500.

DeX2010
Your right it is there price, but what you get for that price is far better than what you would get for a lesser or equal price in the PC world.. In 10 years my MAC will still be going just as great as it did on day one when i bought it, PC's deteriorate as time goes on, i've owned many PC's in the past and they just get worse with age, because Microsoft won't support them much longer after their successor comes out. Do you realize how many incarnations of Windows there have been during the Apple OS X lifecycle? Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Millenium, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows Vista, Windows 7. Apple went from OS 9 to X and it's been OS X ever since, yes it's had it's upgrades from panther, jaguar, tiger, leopard, snow leopard, and now lion but all still iterations of OS-X...and each Apple OS upgrade was a huge improvement, Windows almost always bombed, with the 3 exceptions of 98, XP, and 7. However it's not coincidence that each new Windows OS comes out after the new MAC OS, they still try and copy whatever they can after all these years, Microsoft still innovates or creates nothing.

First of all the price of my IMAC was $2499 then i got 3 years of apple care $179.99 plus tax on all $3000. My IMac has a 3.6ghz intel core duo processor, 8gb ram, 1TB hard drive, 1gb video card, and 24-inch HD LCD screen, Super drive DVD burner / with wireless touch mouse and keyboard. I would say i made out really good, and let's also remember that MAC's are as expensive as they are, not just because there more aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but are also made by one company only.....Apple. Where as there are like 50 different PC makers so prices have to be competitive.....but i'll take quality over quantity any day.

I agree whole heartedly, 360 and PS3 fans have bashed Wii hardware a lot over the years, but it's never gave me one bit of trouble, in fact no nintendo hardware has really ever given me problems, unless you count the occasional worn out or dirty cartridge. Other than that Nintendo hardware has been by far the most reliable.

Yeah...this hasn't been true since...well, pretty much Win Vista because you like it or not Win 7 is a much better OS, 20 mins to access Google Chat? maybe the issue is the Lap Top, you know a 2000 year machine would have troubles with W7.

Anyway on topic, you should also get No More Heroes, Little King Story, Metroid Prime Collection, Okami, TvC, DKCR, Muramasa for the Wii, excellent games and a must play for every Wii owner IMO.

i can personally vouch for the Metroid prime trilogy......good luck trying to find a reasonably priced copy though, also no more heroes. i also like the trauma games. trauma center, trauma team etc. excellent games. no question. there is no question that there is quality games to be played on the wii

Main problem is that Prime Trilogy has the LEAST favorable version of Prime 3.

LOL, if there is one thing that system warriors have a nearly absolute consensus on it is that pc>mac

I purchased my laptop 3 years ago for $700. It came with 2.0ghz core 2 duo (weakest link), 4gb ram, a respectable 512mb graphics card, and a 3 year warranty. It ran WAY faster than my gfs macbook which she bought months later for ~1300 and my brothers high end macbook that was over $2000. Additionally, they are both having computer problems while i've had none (except for some physical damage which the warranty ended up covering)

Installed windows 7 which I got for $20 a few months after release and haven't had any problems with software since. In fact, the only annoyance I do have, is that damned Itunes which is probably the most horrible program ever created. Always trying to install sh*t on my computer that I dont want or do things automatically that I don't want done while effectively preventing me from doing the things I DO want to do with its limited options and proprietary bullsh*t.

My desktop is a 7 year stock dell pc that I purchased for around 500 at the time. I've taken great care of it and it is faster than most of the brand new macs on campus (and the pcs for that matter).

look up, hes trying to do it again

LOL i don't have to justify anything, walk by or into any MAC store if you can get in with the mob of people in there buying apple products, they speak for and sell themselves. I don't recall anyone crowding around the PC sections of a Best Buy or Target store for a PC or PC tablet, in fact i don't recall there being a retail store PC products only, i wonder why that is ?... oh wait now i remember, ....BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS THEM.

Smart PC users build their own PCs. They don't need a store. They think people that buy in stores and pay more for marketing and ergonomic design are suckers, frankly.

 defend mac all you want but you can get a pc with those same or even higher specs for half that price. All you paid for is a name. More software works on PC's BY FAR - Even Skyrim. You got gipped is what happened. Have fun with your bitten Apple.
