i was really dissapointed with all the bad reviews or well not AAA reviews. Good to hear that you lovedit, I mean everything I have seen including the first 30 minutes on Giantbomb really had me totally loving it. Maybe it was too short but I dont get all the bad reviews either.

it wasnt a sony exclusive. thats its main problem. only they get away with releasing game with no replay value and still score 9s or better

I'm in the same boat, but I believe I'm going to buy it (got it on preorder so should dispatch tomorrow) and then trade it in for RDR (although I may keep both depending on funds). I want to hear about big sales for this game :) ...that and the rental options round here are limited.

Edit: However there is episodic DLC (with the first coming free via a token or something).

IDK what the reviewers were smoking that gave this game anything less than a 9. IMO the first 10 of the generation. Better than Uncahrted 2.
The best game I have played since Resident Evil 4.blues35301

stopped reading RIGHT THERE. lol best game since re4.. obviously you are just into that horror/shooter gametype as there has been 60 games better than re4 since its been released.

well he's entitled of his opinion, isn't he? I'm a big fan of Metal Gear and Mario games and I find AW to be a more amazing game than Galaxy and MGS4 are.

yes i know that, but look you are saying you like AW, mgs4 and SMG (all 4 are different types), im just saying he is obviously mainly into the horror/shooter genre.

The best game I have played since Resident Evil 4. If anyone wants to ask me anything go ahead. Game was brilliant.

Incredibly well written, great plot twists, fantastic pacing, story as original as gaming gets. Combat is fun and incredibly intense. I haven't ever experienced a game that let on this level of tension.

The games biggest flaw is that you can only experience it for the first time once.

For people that were intrigued by the premise and first details when Alan Wake was announced you will thoroughly enjoy it. If you were one of those who didn't see what the big deal was you will probably give it in the AA range and think its just pretty good.

I agree, the combat did not feel repetitive, and i was on the edge of my seat at some points wondering what will happen next in the story. I'd have scored it 9.5 seeing as my only complaint is the lip syncing. Every other aspect of the game was a thrill.

nawp. look at heavy rain for example. New IP, 8.5.

Most people who really played the game finished it around in around 15 hours, not 8. I haven't met a single person who'd finish it below 10 hours in his/hers first playthrough!

Tooke me about 16 hours to beat it, i didn't find everything but i found about 75% of the items. Need to play again on Nightmare to get the rest of the story.

No I actually thought they were pretty damn good overall. Not quite Uncharted 2 level but the game is on a bigger scale (though still linear) so its acceptable. I found no problems with the graphics they were as good as I hoped. I definitely think it is the best looking 360 game.

Well still that is pretty good for not having a big dev team and not using a built from the ground up for the Xbox 360 only engine. Cant wait to see what it could do with something like that.

1) takes about 8-12 hours...depending on how good you are at games. I suggest playing on the hardest difficulty, take your time, and try to find all the collectibles... 2) all the enemies seem the same besides objects that aren't "alive"...inanimate things like cars..Some enemies are bigger than others. Nothing more creepy than the one before it. They will all keep you on the edge of your seat, since they like to come up behind you and attack you. 3) Yes, there are bosses, if you count large amount of those taken bird things... 4) He's benevolent, but also seems angry and confused. 5) Yes, there will be other episodic DLC's to be released. The ending makes you say "huh?..."

No in fact I'm going to restart the game tomorrow. I'd advise to start on hard which is what I did. A good challenge.

Were you not as satisfied with the first playthrough as you would have liked? I ask since you're starting the game again.

I am in the same boat. From what I am guessing RDR will give far more gameplay but the gameplay I get from AW I will enjoy it far more.

Yeah, i'm looking forward to RDR also. Just started AW on nightmare setting... besides being great the second time around, its way harder to kill the taken, meaning ill be out of batteries and ammo faster, making it quite a bit harder. If you're the collector type, you'll need to go through it on nightmare for the extra pages.

Well imo and a lot of others around here RE4 is one of the best games of all time. I havent played a thing this gen that was as good on so many levels. Uncharted 2 was damn close though.

I'm really not, I play pretty much everything. Really just coincidence that these two games are my two closest favorites in the past 5 years.

1. about 12 hours. not rushing but moving briskly. walked at a lot of points 2. no 3. not really just tougher enemies. some cool stuff though 4. Alan is pretty good. Barry is the best though. 5. it screams dlc alert which is happening, and they're planning a sequel but i hope 3 or so dlc episodes can wrap it up.
