Best JRPG since FF7...actually no I'd say this is the greatest JRPG of all time beats anything that was on the PS3/360 in the last 3 years. Wii owners in NA are in for a treat.

Its a fantastic game. Hope lots of people give it a try. Buying it again to support operation RF and Monolith.
I cant wait for their next work.
One of the best rpgs since Tales of Symphonia IMO.p3anutInteresting. What other JRPGs have you thought were good since Symphonia? I'm trying to determine how similar this game is to the kind of JRPGs I like. I feel like it's in the vein of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia, Radiata Stories, etc. but I can't be sure.

Apparently it has a real time esque turn based battle system, and the game world is like Skyrim in that after a certain point you are basically given free reign about where to go. This is what I have read, don't quote me on it.
Is it good for any reasons other than exploration/openness?CLOUDsea
According to ALOT of people that's all a game needs to be good.

That really doesn't tend to do it for me.Well I was simply reffering to Skyrim. the game has alot of problems but got huge amounts of praise for the exploration.
And Xenoblade is supposed to have a better battle system and story, and overall world than Skyrim, at least from what I've seen. I mean, the overworld is the corpse of a god! How awesome is that?

My expectations for the story and graphics are probably unreasonably high, due to the developer. That really doesn't tend to do it for me.[QUOTE="CLOUDsea"][QUOTE="turtlethetaffer"]

Battle system isn´t anything special and the world itself isn´t as impressive as Skyrim, not at all,at least as far as the level of detail and size.Story is better in XB but that isn´t saying much tbh.

To be honest, saying that an RPG has a better battle system thatn Skyrim isn't saying much either. Almost anything would be better than it.

Yeah,I suppose so.I mean I'm not saying Skyrim is a bad game, but come on... the combat is just flat out clunky.
game looks amazing along with the last story, too bad they are not on ps3 because i have no intention of wiring my wii up, uh uh.PinnacleGamingP
So you won't play two of the highest acclaimed JRPG's in years because you don't feel like taking 30 seconds to wire up the Wii?

if it was HD graphics i would take a full minuteInteresting. What other JRPGs have you thought were good since Symphonia? I'm trying to determine how similar this game is to the kind of JRPGs I like. Game looks fun. Imma pick it up. So ill see for myself if its worth these insanely high level of praise.
I wouldn't call it the best JRPG of all time. It simply isn't.
It's a really good game, certainly, but I found myself increasingly frustrated with the stupidity of the cutscenes in the second half, and a large amount of the content was full of filler fetch quests (on the plus side, those were optional).
Plus the game lacked a bit of soul and charm for me - I can't really explain why. It's one of the best JRPGs of this generation, perhaps, but...nah, I wouldn't call it an all-time favourite of mine.

Sure is. The customisation options are really well done, the story is well-paced, and the combat is satisfying too. Not to mention that there's an enormous amount of content - even if you stuck to the main quest, it'll still probably take you 40-60 hours to beat.
I'm quoting you on it. The reason why the battle system seems turn based is that attacks and arts are tied to cooldowns and timers. However, there are no clearly defined turns, as in, everyone moves and fights in real time. The battle system should be familiar to people who played MMORPGs.Overclockd
That's...disappointing. I've yet to like a combat system that did that.

I agree with everything you said.
It's not the best JRPG of all time, but it's definitely an amazing game. If you're into JRPG's, you'll like this.
[QUOTE="lamprey263"]doubt it's better than Persona 3 or 4, but I may give it a shotKashiwaba
Personally I put it above P3 but it doesnt touch P4.
above P3 you say. hmmm cant wait to judge myself. Since I really really enjoyed p3.
Hmmm...meh...going back to Skyrim now....nothing to see here...just another JRPG...Bread_or_Decide
Coming from the guy who is playing just another WRPG.

Yeah, that's why I'm on the fence about getting it but I still want to play it mostly for the world exploration. Please Log In to post.
