So they take care of you by selling you something that breaks... and then figuring out that that's bad and then extending the warrenty after you pay...
You lost out... that 140 isn't worth as much now as when you payed them.. (inflation)

I won't and can't deny there are some problems, but not as much as some fanboys make it to be.
Sucks for your friend though.

The more time they had the money the more actualy purchasing power it's lost... it's still 140$ but now you can't get as much for it... (This is called inflation) So really you got less back from them then when you payed.
this is how all of those mail in rebates work... They take the money and put it in a high intrest account... let it accure for awhile... then pay you out the exact amount you payed in... which has less value due to inflation... while they take the intrest...

You can't spin it any other way.
I am just going to go with a simple no, I am on my 5th 360 and all my friends have had to return theres to so I wouldn't be praising Microsoft right now.TrailorParkBoy
At what point is this user error or maybe your just abusing the warranty system.
5 360?, if i was on 5 of anything, hell If I was on my 3rd of anything there would be no 4th or 5th.

I went through 7 PS2s, and every person I know who owned a PS2 had to replace it at least once (due to not reading certain discs). I don't see why problems with the early-launching system is considered so revolutionary.
That's why you buy the store-warrenty for your systems. It breaks? Trade it in, and you get a free controller and/or harddrive out of the deal.
By selling you a piece of trash with a 33% fail rate?HermitCommando
There is no proof that it's that high. Just because biased PS3 websites say that (sony defence force lmao) doesn't mean it's true. Stop getting numbers out of your ass. Btw at least microsoft admitted there was a problem and are fixing it unlike sony with PS2 drive problems.

Dude don't even for a second think it is my fault. How could it be? Hell I am still part lemming and used to be a full lemming (now part hermit) just over a year ago. I Fricken wipe my 360 down with a swifter to keep the dust off it for Christ sake. And why would I "abusing the warranty system."? My 360 was broke for almost 2 months (hole summer) and all I got was a #$%*en 1 month live card!! #$^%!!!!!!! I don't even pay for live I get it free so $%^&!!!!! (long story but I don't pay for gold, yet still get it)Maybe $600 for a PS3 is worth it afterall; At least it's reliable.Xeratuleya, maybe if you don't like FPS'es but since I do the only real option for me is a 360 :(

I do believe the failure rate might be 33% or even higher. I base this on that I work for a certain major shipping company and I see about 150 shipments a day and at least 3-4 of those shipments are 360's being returned from Microsoft everyday.
Also about half the people I know who have a 360 have had to return theirs to get repaired.

I know what you mean but after having so much fun with Halo on live I just couldn't not play Halo 3. There is Resistance, Killzone and I guess Warhawk but I mean thats nothing to Halo, Gears of war and Bioshock at least to me. Though I could understand why you would maybe pick the PS3.Yup. Interpret it at corporate slaves then, but Microsoft is still scum even if most of the people who work there aren't necessarily scum as well.

I'm now contemplating sending in my 360. I'm tired of it opening whenever I'm playing a song in Guitar Hero.:x
[QUOTE="Spartan8907"]I'm just glad I bought a system that is reliable enough to not need it's warranty extended twice to an unheard of three years. That is a good move on their part, but thats not doing much for their reputation.farrell2k
 Not a good attempt at basing the 360. The longer the warranty, the better.
Some funny scenarios:
"Damn, THE 360 has a 3 year warranty? It must be a piece of crap! I'll go spend $200 extra on a PS3 and get a 1 year warranty!"
"oh, my God. That car has a 5 year bumper to bumper, and a 10 year powertrain warranty? I'm going to buy this one with a 3 year bumper to bumber and a 5 year powertrain, instead!. The fact that a company would need a 10 year warranty really does bad for their reputation."
LMAO. Do you silly fanboys even read before you type? Oh noes! Don't give me a warranty 3x as long as anyone else!!!!!!!!
Cow kids are funny
I hope you realize, that you should never have to use a warranty. it is there for piece of mind just in case in the rare occasion something does happen, you are covered. When you need to purchase, or extend a warranty because more than likely you will have to use it, that is not a good product. Do you know, the longer the warranty, the less prone to breaking the product is? Companies are not going to offer a lifetime warranty on a product that will constatnly fail and lose them a lot of money. super short warranties are used on products that are more prone to fail, such as those 30 day warranties and such.
Microsofts original warranty was not 3 years. it was extended to 3 years because of all the failures. They would rather lose money on repairs, then have people just plain not buy their system. My 360 has been rock solid so far, but I could have a failure. Its nice to know the warranty is there, but again, I shouldn't have to use it.
The inconvenience of being without your system at a crucial time is another thing. There are examples of that in this very thread. The warranty is nice, but frequent failures are always aggravating. However, I do believe some people have exxagerated on how many times their system has failed. I have seen as much as 10 time failures spoken of. Why in the world would you continue to send it in and not just sell it? I can't see that being true.
on the flip side, PS3's and Wii's have been spectacular in performance. Very seldom do you hear of failures. That is how hardware should be. You are paying top dollar for something, it better last a while. I guess this is the difference between Hardware, and software manufactuers.
