pc gamer uk and read the bioshock review and i seriously cannot wait now.

Says it has some of the best gaming moments ever, and apparantly there is one stand out moment that literally made the reviewers jaw drop, and stay there. wonder what it could be :o

Not to mention its bug free, and will run on a £170 graphics card at 1600x1200 flawlessly.

Game of the year? DEFINATE contender.

Maybe. PC Gamer has some tough standards. Really tough standards that are geared towards letting PC owners know what is good and what sucks on their platform.

I like what I'm hearing. I was skeptical for a long time with Bioshock.

Me:

2.2GHZ Athlon XP 3000+

1 GIG DDR RAM

Radeon 9800pro 128bit

If it can look as good as Doom 3 with a framerate above 30 then I'll be happy, doubt it though  Getting a 360 soon'ish anyway.

I got Core 2 Duo E4300, 2GB of RAM, and (2) X1900 Crossfire Edition video cards. I'll be running Bioshock with some really nice settings. Better than the Xbox 360, that's for sure.

And I like turles. But what does that have to do with this thread? :| http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNry4PE93Y (I'm just teasing :P, and for the record, my friend really did have Turtles when he was younger, and they stunk to high Heaven... :?)

I have a PC, with an E6600, 8800 GTS 640 mb, and 2gb of ram. It will all be plugged ino my 50 inch HDTV or my 21 inch Sony 4ms monitor, and I will be setting in my comfy couch with my wireless mouse and keyboard or my comfy computer chair. I say we will both be experience the second best game of all time (behind only Half-Life).

Does it mention if it's "scary" (I'm thinking condemned here). I'm hoping it is, but will get it either way.

I have a really great system but Im getting it on my 360! Crazy you say?

But this game is a SLOW paced shooter with an RPG element the only superiority the PC has is the mouse IMO graphics come after gameplay, this along with Oblivion really deserve to be played with controllers and a HDTV+sofa setup.

My rig:

Intel core 2 extreme qx6850

2gig PC2 - 8500 1066mhz ram

2 x 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3

and some other bits and bobs.

All this talk about MODS really makes me laugh, I have only played one MOD and its zombie for CSS, most other MODS for PC games are rather %^@~ and pointless.

PLUS I BUYING THE GAME NOT THE MODS THAT MAY COME OUT FOR IT!

the review state sthere is a part that is as scary as theif 3's cradle level. So yes its scary.

Also in the final conclusion points it says its both ahorror and a shock game.

Plus it says its one of the most atmospheric games to date, so yeh i reckon in places it will be pretty twisted/scary.

pfft i'll enjoy the superior image quality, a choice of both m/kb and controller ( although m/kb>>>controller for fps), great mods ( and you know there will be some great ones with this, think new plasmids/tonics) and better framerate.

but i'm sure you will enjoy the 360 version, although i don't see why you wouldnt get it for that pc :|.

any descernable advantage to the 360 version?

I'm doing a 360 version as well. Here's why...

My PC can more than handle it, but I don't like to play in the same room that I work in. I also have a PC hookedup to my 110" screen/projector, but the couch experience is much better with a console than a PC. And the gamepad is just more repsonsive on the console vs. PC--I don't know why but I assume it's because the devs tweak the console version to be better with the pad. KB/M I hate unless it's a RTS and even then I don't like it but understand that it's the only viable choice.

From the end of the PC Gamer UK review.

It's:
-A horror game
-A long game
-A Shock game

It's not:
-Bugged
-Demanding
-About killing kids

So its scary, its long, its not bugged, its not a system hog, and its not about killing little sisters.

Pc gamers don't have to pay for the mods, they are free, so we are only buying the game and not that mods also. I bet if you want those same mods on the 360 version, you will be paying for them.

And you can play the PC version on the sofa with a HDTV setup as well if your tv has a PC connection. As for controls, I will stick with my K/M and leave the controller for things like platformers and racing games.

I wonder if a demo will be out. I'm sure the game will score well on review sites and everything. Doesn't seem like my type of game at all though. I mean, I didn't even like Half Life 2 enough to play it past half way in the second level...

Here is what I suggest you do. Go back and actually play past the second level in HL2 because the first level is just walking around, and the second level is just running from the Combine. It gets much, much better after that.

PS - There should a demo before release. Although there may not be. There will be a demo for sure, but we dont know if it will be before release or not.

Exactly. If you have 110" screen (or any real large screen) in a dark room (likea basement movie theater) then you really get immersed. Trust me. Condemned in my basement at dark with no one home was scary and immersive. That's precisely why I want it on my 360 (well one of the reasons because I could run it on my Vaio XL PC, but as mentioned earlier controllers feel better/more responsive on the 360).

I understand for some the PC environment is what they need to get away to get the scary feeling, but for me and my setup it's defniitely the 360.

That's precisely why I want it on my 360 (well one of the reasons because I could run it on my Vaio XL PC, but as mentioned earlier controllers feel better/more responsive on the 360).

I understand for some the PC environment is what they need to get away to get the scary feeling, but for me and my setup it's defniitely the 360.

fair enough we shall agree to disagree :)

but i will enjoy the mods :P

Let's see, I have an E6600, 2 gigs Corsair XMS2 at 800MHz, and an 8800GTX. Should I get this for 360 or PC? I'm sure the PC version will look better, but the devs are saying that the 360 is the definitive version.

I didn't realize the devs said that. Even more reason for the 360. Well it your gaming in the same location then the 360 would be the way to go. It's about gameplay and experience. You have to think the gameplay experience is going to be better on teh ones the devs said was the definitive verison. But if your PC room is quieter/darker and has better sound system then game there. And vice-versa.

i cant think of any advantage that the 360 version has over the pc version, where as the pc version will have better graphics ( especially on a 8800gtx), mods and a choice of control systems.

pc gamer uk and read the bioshock review and i seriously cannot wait now.

Hey! What month/issue of PC Gamer UK is the bioshock review in? I went to a barnes and noble who carry the PC Gamer UK, but it is covered in plastic, and you can't read it.

I have an AMD Athlon Xp 2100+(1.73ghz), 2GB PC DDR RAM running at 2100 speed, ATi Radeon x1650 PRO 512MB AGP X8. I should be able to run the game just fine even if it won't look jaw dropping I don't care. Gameplay over graphics any day.

PLUS I BUYING THE GAME NOT THE MODS THAT MAY COME OUT FOR IT!

mikasa

pfft i'll enjoy the superior image quality, a choice of both m/kb and controller ( although m/kb>>>controller for fps), great mods ( and you know there will be some great ones with this, think new plasmids/tonics) and better framerate.

but i'm sure you will enjoy the 360 version, although i don't see why you wouldnt get it for that pc :|.

any descernable advantage to the 360 version?

I'm doing a 360 version as well. Here's why...

My PC can more than handle it, but I don't like to play in the same room that I work in. I also have a PC hookedup to my 110" screen/projector, but the couch experience is much better with a console than a PC. And the gamepad is just more repsonsive on the console vs. PC--I don't know why but I assume it's because the devs tweak the console version to be better with the pad. KB/M I hate unless it's a RTS and even then I don't like it but understand that it's the only viable choice.

LOL@!!!!! The mouse and keyboard are waaaay more responsive than thumbsticks. That's hilarious!! FPS's are so much better when you're closer to the monitor, as it represents headlook, instead of being 15 feet back, which takes you out of the game. Never played System Shock 2 on PC have you?

You would know because it has a Big Daddy on the Cover and says "BIOSHOCK." I believe its the September Issue, but I may be wrong.

B&N had a plastic cover on it so you couldn't see anything, only the title PC Gamer and a white sticker saying Printed in England or something. It was $20 bucks too.

This is not a fast paced shooter so why bother. Also keyboard on my lap sucks when on a couch...not to mention the mouse has no where to sit. trust me...for couch gaming console is the best.

So? I have 360 core (with HDD), a 4 year old 61' SDTV and a standard couch.

PS, I would get Bioshock for the pc, but mine is a 3 year old compaq laptop (presario 2500).

I like what I'm hearing. I was skeptical for a long time with Bioshock. musicalmac

As son as I heard about the plasmids, I was sold.
