Just wondering about pokemon's hype (poll)

We're getting close to diamond pearl, I was wondering what the official hype on this is. I of coarse say AA, seeing as no other pokemon scored over and it's online is just short of dynamic, being that it doesn't let you engage in online battles without a FC (not truly at least)

 It's features are:
-Around 400 or so pokemon, so a massive selection

-Very large world, pictured below

-Limited online features (battle by friends codes, or battle a bot with a random persons' uploaded group of pokemon, if I understand correctly, as well as trading)

-Weather effects and night/day effects

-2d 3d view, kinda hard to explain

I wonder why somebody doesn't just rip off Pokemon completely but do it with characters and a universe that is appealing to people that are older and want a more...what's the proper word to not annoy the 40 year olds that play Pokemon...uhhh more mature visual style and storyline.JiveT

Where have you been? There have been plenty of Pokemon clones over the years that tried the "dark subject" route.

Pokemon started as a game, not an anime.

By the way, show some respect for the show. Despite it sucking real hard as a show, it helped with making anime mainstream in America.

Why?  Have gamers become so sad and deluded, devoid of the ability to think and judge a game fairly, that they inflate the value of a game because of its franchise alone?  How many times, and how terribly must a game regress, until consumers WAKE UP and demand new products?

The warrant and concepts behind this game SHOULD ensure that it can't score above an 8 (even if it had flawless gameplay).  Children capturing monsters and engaging in egoistic duels for petty or fictious reasons?  And we call it "good" or "very good?"

No wonder half of society still thinks gamers are either nerds or children, =/.

Pokemon games were never about scores. They all were about sales. Look at Mystery Dungeon for example, the game got a horrible score on GS, but the sales were good for the game. phatkav

Very true. If I would hype the game, I would give it AAA just because I can't get bored of Pokemon games. However websites like GS are already tired of the same formula so the chances of getting AAA is very slim.

The series isn't regressing in fact I believe its improving with the addition of WiFi. The only thing I don't like is the new pokemon aren't as cool as the old ones :'(

Squirtle, Charizard and Pikachu,...... they were such awesome pokemon.

You and the rest of the world. I remember my freind bashed me for playing gold. But when I was over his house and opened a draw looking for Soul Calibur 2. I seen the red, blue and SIlver version. I was like who's is this. He came cold.

I think it's ridiculous why anyone is even bothered about this game. I mean POKEMON - it's made for japanese kids why do you people care, if your a respectable adult you wouldn't buy this, really I think this sums up Nintendo - designed for kids or adult nerds in your casespark5050

Wifi could also boost the score if the features work well.

It's the same old Pokemon game,it hasn't changed since red&blue back in 1998 so it will be an low-mid AA.blacktorn

Sense red blue, loads has changed. New types, new attacks, about tripled the ammount of pokemon, new stuff to do around the world, night and day system and date tracker (yes, it affects a lot what day and time of day it is), 2 on 2 battles... do you get the point yet?

Lets not forget other things like passives, equip-able items, breeding and Effort Values. Funny how some people consider Pokemon a game with little depth.
