Kicking it around? Snowboarding on it? Kung Fu Practice? Jesus.
Ok really, I have never broken a single piece of electronics, and they have never, ever died out on me yet.
Everyone just takes the .00001% of consoles that break and exagerate it to 75% of consoles.

Did you buy the "Dual Shock" playstation? 'cause that was the Best Playstation 1 around(since by then they worked all the kinks). Or if you had waited a year or two or so after the PS2s launch

DEH DEH DEEEH.
In this thread, there's a jealous Lem that doesn't accept that the X360 has hardware problems and the PS3 doesn't

The only 2 consoles I brought at luanch was the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
And surprisingly either or have had any problems.
What you read on the Net concerning is mostly a very vocal Minority that has had problems with there console.
And now Extrapolate that with fanboys and you get the picture.

Pfft. I quit juggling my consoles months ago and my 360 still crapped out on me after one game session in the bath tub.
Sony is known for making good hardware.Eddie-Vedder
Oh, the irony. Yes the PS3 seems to be quite reliable. The PS2, however, was anything but reliable. Heck, Sony got sued over the DRE problems for that and had a recall on laptop batteries. Sony is a good manufacturer but they are hampered with issues just like MS.

A section just for hardware problems lmao!!!
Seriously, I would of thought you Playstation fans would of learned by now on Sony's terrible reputation on released-gan Playstations. The first get Playstation(release) had "Disc Error" errors and would over heat. The First gen of PS2s would have "Disc Read Errors" and stuff. Now we gotta wait to see what goes wrong with the PS3. By the time the PS4 comes out, the PS3 would be like $250. hahaha.
XmasterX01
Duh, when I hit my ps3 with a hammer because I can't get past the 1st level of supa ruba dub, it temporarily ceases to work. the other day I drilled holes right through my ps3 to give it better air ventilation and now it doesn't work. I thought it might have still been over heating so I chucked it in a bath filled with ice & water (& my little sister) to see if that would help. When I plugged it in though, a loud bang came from the wall socket, I also heard weaird buzzing noises, a scream, a thud on tiles, & sizzling of skin kind of sound........Suffice to say nor my ps3 or my sister work anymore.
Man I don't know why my consoles fail on me all the time.

They never had one - figure it out. "Bu...bu...buh" It's like the people on here who start threads off with "I'm not a fanboy, I own both a PS3 and a 360" then they have the same photo of a PS3 and 360 box next to each other in their signature that everyone else has.... hmm... those are really their system, eh? Of course they go on to bash the PS3. If you're going to be a fanboy, come clean about it. I've got no problem admitting I think "consoles > PC ", "360 > PS3 >>>(a lot more)>>>>> Wii" and my posting history shows that.
Gad. Y'know ironically I plugged my Dreamcast in the other day - I forgot how *loud* it is - louder than the 360, though I don't have them side-by-side - the disc read is noisy on it. Dreamcasts are prone to controller port failure and disc failure - by prone I mean it has been a problem with Dreamcast enthuists that has been reported, probably a fraction of a percent of owners - and yet you never hear people on the forum going on and on about it - nope, it was a great system - truly hardcore.
I dunno - I think it all comes down to manufacturer. If Nintendo had made the PS3, it wouldn't have sold more than a million units, if Nintendo had made the Xbox 360 we'd be talking about how great their repair service was (even if it was the same thing Microsoft did) and if Microsoft had made the Wii it would have flopped. There's a certain company image and it affects how people behave toward their products.

Finally someone understands me. I also had a Launch Playstation 1, and by the time FFVII came out, I always had to switch discs around in order to play(instead of playing the first part of the game with disc one, I played the first and second part with Disc 2 'cause it wouldn't read disc 1, which made it touch 'cause the FMVs were all out of order)
Sorry champ, but the original xbox was just as unreliable. It had laser problems just like some ps2's did. People come up with crapola statistics about % rates of failed PS2's & sprout on that 60million of the 120million sold were rebuys due to failure....LMAO.
Even if PS2 had a 2% failure rate, it is 2% out of 120+ million, so of course you are going to see more people on forums complaining about failed machines. Whereas what lem & sheep fanboys fail to mention is that xbox & cube could have 2% failure rates as well, but becuase your taking 2% of 24million, then the repurcutions are not gonna be the same, as far less people own the console, hence far less people out there have faulty consoles.
The 360 on the other hand is failing anywhere from 1st plug in to anyday now after your purchase. Don't worry though lems, Bill knows your suckas & has implemented a chip into the original batch of 360's to make them fail the day the new 120gig 360 comes out. He knows you are loyal & stupid enough to rebuy another lemon.
i seem to be a bit unlucky.
MY PS1 died on me after a few years of use. i think the motor in the disc drive gave up. it would just keep clicking and skipping. admittadly i did use it alot over the years.
My first GC was also faulty. it would just lock up randomly, either while playing a game or on the system screen it didnt matter. I think it was overheating fue to a badly fitted heatsink. i got that replaced with no hassle and the new one has been faultless up until i got the wii.
I got a seconcd hand PS2 and the disc tray makes a vibrating noise just as it stops coming out at full length. nothing major, the system itself seems fine and disc reading is nto a prob.
My first DS has 3 dead pixels on the touch screen. got that replaced and the new one is perfect.
thats it for me and faulty consoles though. my xbox1, 360, nes, sens, various PCs (i know there not consoles) and PS2 (bar the above littel niggle) have all performed very well.
on topic, the Ps3 does seem to be a pretty reliable peice of kit. ive heard of some leamons which is perfectly normal. even the wii gets a few lemons. i guess we will have to see how reliable it is over the longer term but for now it seems fine.

The consoles i own SNES, N64, PSX, DC, PS2, XBOX, 360, PS3. All my consoles works perfectly to this day expect my ps2s. I ended up buying 4 ps2 over the years and i gave up on the ps2 after buying my 4th one. I took good care of my ps2 btw and i guess i was one of the unlucky ones that kept getting the defective ones. It amazes me how i had my psx over 10 years and still runs perfectly.

Thank you for that. People always say PS3 isn't worth the money, or that it's over-priced, but when the hardware is that reliable and well made, who should honestly be complaining? I would rather have a silent running, cool, Blu-Ray equipped PS3 that costs $600 than a noisy, disc scratching, egg-fryingly hot, prone to "red lights of death" Xbox 360 that costs $400. "You get what you pay for" is very apt in this case - she's lucky she's got games is all i'm saying about the 360..

I can add how I still have systems from the early 80's that work perfectly and have owned multiple platform since and the only one that I have ever had any problems with is a PS2. You guys are lucky. I have never had a Nintendo product die on me, but i have a broken PS2 right now and my friends are on their 2nd and another on his 3rd.
360's however, takes the cake as being built like junk. There is a reason everyone knows what '3 rings of death' means

I took EXTREMLY GOOD care of my 360 and did everything right and not once did it ever screw up until one day I was just playing normally and all of a sudden it freezes with vertical lines going down the screen, so I turn it off wait a while turn it back on and what do ya know, 3 red lights. In alot of the cases like mine its not my fault its the hardware's fault and MS even knows this. Besides you should be able to play for as long as you want without it breaking not having to watch out for bad noises and oer heating, I did watch out for all those things and still my eventually broke.
