Nikkei is reporting that Kaz Hirai will finally be promoted to President of Sony (in April). If you remember, Hirai has been the Playstation boss for quite some time and was rumored to be in talks of becoming President as far back as November 2010. Sony sure took its time with this one.
So now Kaz's duties expand to cover all of Sony as President while Howard Stringer is still CEO and Chairman. Hopefully the Kaz and Stringer combo can bring Sony back to its glory days. Maybe? Possibly?

I have no idea why they would expect promoting from within to help, especially considering how SCEI has been run into the ground this gen. Although I guess it helps prove just how incompetent Stringer is.

i like sony and all but come on be real. what is left? phones?
sony used to be an electronic powerhouse but everyone does electronics better than they do these days. 15 years ago the sony logo was on almost every peice of consumer electronics in my home and right now there is literally not ine thing in my home except the ps3 with their logo on it.
their phones are 2nd rate, their tvs lose every head to head shootout on consumer reports and the ps3 is literally the best thing they produce and if that is not a sad state of affairs i don't know what is.

Wow nice opinion. Sony still has top rated electronics. Go check out there home sound systems, HDTV's, Laptops/PC's, Camcorders, Cameras, and Bluray players. Just because you don't buy them doesn't mean that there not great. Only thing Sony isn't that popular in are cell phones
