He retired firstly because he was old and rich enough to retire. Secondly he's still going to help out. Thirdly everyone at Sony pretty much hated him after all his decisions with the PS3.

nah but seriously i dont see where the other article said he was quitting just that he was leaving his job, and i think that was after he was already demoted, so yeah we saw this coming. but as far as i know he is still with sony
