Came out on the 15th actually.

I was looking forward to this game coming to consoles for a while, but I was thinking it'd be like a $20 game tops, but $40?! I mean, I want to believe it's worth it. From everything I've heard about how complex this game is it definitely seems so, but I haven't heard anything about how the console ports perform. There's not even any reviews out there or major outlets talking about it or its performance on consoles or showing any gameplay. If it were $20 I'd take the plunge quite willingly, but at $40 I just want some reassurances, like knowing the game doesn't have severe performance issues or crashes mid game or anything that might otherwise ruin the experience.

Anybody out there playing this on consoles? If so, what are your thoughts about it? Like how does it perform?

As far as the game design itself goes, I hear there's a steep learning curve. Curious, how does one get around the difficulty? Trial and error? Or does the game have tutorials? Or do you go to YouTube and study some how-to videos?

Amazing game, everyone should play it.

Cant comment on the port though.

Look up scott manley on you tube he has some starter videos ti show you the basics, the learning curve is crazy but youdont have to learn how to do everything if you dont want, just building crazy spaceships and space planes and blowing them up can give you countless hours of fun!

I spent well over 30 hours and built over 100 ships before I even managed to get into orbit.

I post this video everytime i talk about KSP, it has to be done!

Yeah TC, I was expecting it to be $20 tops. At $40 it's just too much of taking a chance.

I've been watching videos of Xbox One gameplay, I'm convinced it runs fine, and I've a strong idea of the gameplay to expect so, so I'm willing to take the chance. It helps I have about $13 in Bing Rewards saved up to make a dent, so it'll only cost me $27 to pick up.

I had one, that's 1, army buddy who played this. At the grenade range he barely passed because he threw like a new born.

So watching him try to convince a few of us how awesome it was is the closest I ever got to it. Not my kind of game.

@naz99: doing the training, learning bit by bit, it's not as hard as it seems you just have to be patient and read all the text windows, maybe do a few training missions over again

This game's hard as ****. I've tried it, still haven't made it to space. $40 for more frustration? Yea, no thanks. I bought it on Steam and then requested a refund, I'll pick it up again but only when it's like $10, which it'll never be as this seems to be one of those games that doesn't go down too much in price.

I just started this evening, my problem isn't getting into space, it's getting into a stable orbit, I'm in tutorial and the rocket they had me build won't take me into stable orbit, so I refitted it with extra fuel pods in each stage and extra boosters, and I overshot an orbit and now I'm just floating in maybe a very elongated orbit... or I dunno, maybe I hit an escape velocity and I'll be floating out forever, I dunno, I kind of feel like letting it do its thing and seeing where I end up in a few hours

so far pretty fun though, lot of frustration for a game that's $40 sure but man there's just a great feeling when you do something right, or have a happy accident

@lamprey263: yeah, great feeling when you get there. I could actually get into (a screwed up) orbit but I wanted to try to get to the moon and that was just way over my head. There's some pretty in-depth tutorials on YouTube.

Were they able to port every gameplay function on Consoles? I always thought it'll be challenging to do so on Controllers.

Someone should build a rocket that looks like a penis and see if it flies. That's what i'd do at least.

Yeah I heard great things about this, got it during the weekend and played the first tutorial, building your first rocket. Fun so far, I need more time to get into it, juggling several games at once now.

Only thing I would say is it can get some getting used to using the menu cursor with controller analog stick, may need to adjust sensitivity. Looking forward to playing more

The analog works just like a cursor.

If there is a control bit that bugs me it's when making fine adjustments, like say in tutorial there's parts that tell you to set an engine to 65% throttle or something like that so you get a slider, and there's no way to gradually adjust slider nor to manually input a value so you have to bounce between the number you're trying to hit with the slider praying it magically hits where you need it, pain in the ass but manageable, it's not that doing this right isn't doable they just didn't do a very good job here.

One part that bugs me is that my controller on occasion will get stick drift which can really mess up my navigation when it takes me by surprise, so I often fly with the controls disabled (clicking left analog basically makes ship control go to a cursor control for selecting things on the UI).

I did read one review of the PS4 game where someone complained that the DS4's motion controls affect gameplay and there's no way to shut that off.

There's lots of controller shortcuts too, you learn them gradually through the training missions. Though, while learning it can be a pain because if you accidentally press the wrong combination of inputs it can have unintended consequences.

It's actually not as difficult as I thought. They pretty much have really good training missions that guide you through every bit step by step. Problem is there's one particular training mission I'm stuck on that I'm 100% convinced is screwed up by poor design rather than my execution, which I've been trying to nail for hours now because I need to know the various tutorial steps that it's going to teach me... ugh, other than that though yeah the better designed part do a great job familiarizing players to the game's complexities bit by bit, there's just a lot of reading, retention, and patience required.

1. No mods on cosnole, which pretty much killed my friend's enthusiasm for it there after playing on his laptop. I thik I'll finally convince the last hold out to pick up a gmaing PC.

2. Controls suck. For a lto fo the interactions it's basiclaly a mouse cursor bound to the analogue stick. Which is hilarious. Tons of commands to memorize and some actions (like docking improtant control windows and activating compoenents outside of the staging stack) are incredibly tedious and hard to pull off when timing is critical.

3. Graphics glitches, performance issues and crashes reported, at least ont he Xbone version, not sure about PS4. Settings appear to be medium to medium low on PS4 vs PC.

I don't even know why they bothered with this. Your bread and butter is on PC, and instead of continuing to improve that version - maybe adding workshop support, improving the base graphcis, incorporaitng th best mods out there into the game, etc, you waste who knows how much moneya dn dev time into a console port that no one is going to buy...

Makes no sense.

The game is legitimately worth $40. However, as others have said, I don't think I would want to play it without mods.... or without a mouse.
