I don't get it.. First of all, that's way beyond ignorant and second of all, why would KB have the master key?
[QUOTE="Filthybastrd"]It obvious wasn't KB nope it was http://twitter.com/thekevinbutlerI don't get it.. First of all, that's way beyond ignorant and second of all, why would KB have the master key?

Animal-Mother
Do you people really think that is the real kevin bulter? Why would an actor have access to the PS3 security key? lolDiviniuzHe RE-tweeted it, which means that guy exiva tweeted the key and directed the message at the Kevin Butler Twitter account, and whoever's running the account replied to him unwittingly.
i'm not getting the joke here.
is it that sony has now officially released the key into the public and hackers can't be held accountable for any damages the info does?

If real, I would say Geohotz just received a boost to his defense :)
LMAO at the fiasco this whole situation is for Sony.
From what I read someone tweeted him the code to which whoever was using the twiiter retweeted it in his message with the response "Does this mean you sunk my battleship?"CajunShooterYep pretty much. He didn't actually make a tweet going "haw haw heres da ps3 master code", whoever is in charge of the account just replied stupidly to it. Pretty funny.
As a publicity stunt, it's rather lame, IMO. Call me when someone manages to glean the LV1 key or Sony's SSL certificate (then you'll be seeing something newsworthy).

Here it is:
Hey Sony: COME AT ME! :D
you probably shouldn't post that hereWhy not? Sony's own VP of Marketing posted it.
pretty sure it's a violation of the TOS, i could be wrong, just looking out for yaI guess proof of the concept that the ability to read and speak does not make a person intelligent exists. I cant believe some of the replies on here.
Since when does a actor or who ever in Sony's marketing crew have access and knowledge of the security key??
I don't get it to be honest, someone posts a code then the other guy replies "lemme guess...you sank my battleship?" where did he ( Kevin Butler that is ) tweet the code? all I see is someone asking a question, no numbers there :?
HAZE-Unit
The PlayStation 3's security key is an ALPHA-NUMERIC number.

Damn straight. :?
I doubt an actor updates his character's twitter... Many actors do. it's a PR thing and we know that PR is part of his job.To be honest I think that twiiter photo was just photoshopped to make KB and Sony look bad.[QUOTE="dommeus"][QUOTE="Shirokishi_"]
What a shame. Pretty good actor but a total moron.

You don't get it, do you? Here is a brief explanation for your simple mind-
1. Fan adds Sony's official twitter account to their "follow" list.
2. Fan posts what looks like random mumbo jumbo, and directs it at Sony's official twitter account.
3. Sony responds (also called "retweeting") thinking that it is just random mumbo jumbo and add in their little joke ("battleship yada-yada").
4. Sony then realizes their mistake and removes the tweet.
Ta-da! That's how we explain it to people who don't understand things.

Ah sorry to see the RT  a little misinterpretation.[QUOTE="Diviniuz"]Do you people really think that is the real kevin bulter? If he tweeted that key before the PS3 got hacked, it would matter.
But since that key was discovered ages ago and is available all over the internet, it doesn't really matter that he tweeted it.
I don't get it to be honest, someone posts a code then the other guy replies "lemme guess...you sank my battleship?" where did he ( Kevin Butler that is ) tweet the code? all I see is someone asking a question, no numbers there :?

I'll explain:
Some dude WHO ALREADY KNEW THE PS3 KEY THINGIE tweeted Kevn B. with the key and said "There. Come and get me". The idea, in clearer terms, was "Here, actor guy hired by Sony, I have the PS3 key, which is *insert key here*. Now tell your bosses to come and sue me". The actor replied to the tweet, not knowing what all those numbers and letters were, by saying "You sank my battleship", but he didn't edit the original tweet and, thus, the master key was shown on Kevin Butlers' official twitter feed.
