Killer Instinct or Street Fighter - more excited for?

Given both are console exclusive that will also be on PC - which are you more excited for, SW? Killer Instinct looks like a cool game. I tried the demo a few times on X1 and I like the old school arcade feel. However, Street Fighter is much more mechanically sound. If KI fixes the gameplay, I might be more inclined to chose that. But as it stands, Street Fighter wins by TKO.

To me, I been playing Killer Instinct since last November when I pick up my Xbox One and from there, I also own season 1/2. Love the game, playing it all the time, and it's much better then Street Fighter. The new Street Fighter doesn't come out till next year in March so it's a letdown to be excited for a game that won't come out next year. Nothing to talk about the new SF game and why Capcom announce it if it's not coming out this year is beyond me.

Couldn't care less about them.

My money is always on Street Fighter.

I can't play Killer Instinct. I'm not a fan of Street Fighter. I'm more hyped for Mortal Kombat X.

killer instinct has been out for a while and is great. So I guess Im more excited for SF5 since it has yet to come out. This reminds me that I need to go play KI again since the new stuff came out

Always Street Fighter. Ultra Street Fighter IV is such a completely balanced game compared to most other fighters with perhaps the largest quantity of viable characters. It also has a perfect balance between all the main aspects of the fighting genre: Footsies, offense, defense, etc.

I have high hopes for the fifth game. Hopefully they come up with a great new mechanic that's as wonderfully versatile as the focus attack/FADC mechanics of 4.

What is funny to me is so many people complain about IP Milkage and yet there are a bunch of People voting for SF even though KI was in hiatus for 15+ years. Killer Instinct has the superior characters all the KI team needs to do is tighten up the game play a bit and it would be the perfect 2D fighter.

As a pc gamer I honestly like what I have seen with Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat.. I think Street Fighter thus far looks the most drab.. It looks like another variant of Street Fighter 4 with minor tweaks.. Meanwhile the devs of Mortal Kombat look like they are trying to make significant changes from the past game with things like traits which would change how the character operates in some ways from which you choose..

It couldn't be more hinted at yet though, same with Season 3 confirmation. Both have been "all but confirmed."

Killer Instinct still is not confirmed for PC.

Wait... What? What is the Killer Instinct way? If it is what I though it was, I'd find it far worse than the way Capcom handled things with Street Fighter IV.

Both but more so for KI. Not only are there no copy characters, there aren't even multiple characters with the same archetype, background or fighting style. A truly diverse cast that is also very balanced. A rare thing in fighters.

Street Fighter. It always was. Look at SF2, SFAlpha, MvC, or SF4s impact on fighting games. Hell, look at EVO and see what people go nuts for at every tourney.

As a fighting game fanatic though, in the meantime I'm enjoying Guilty Gear PS4, Injustice Ultimate PS4, and even some KI on Xbone.

Looking forward to Mortal Kombat X and SF5 of course.

Don't know, need to see more of SF5 before I can make up my mind. Not too impressed so far. As for whether I'll get it, I'll wait a few years. I don't fancy buying multiple versions like last time.

So people talk about KI outside of it being xbone exclusive? lol, the very fact that it wasn't talked about among fighting fans shows anyone suddenly comparing it to the most known fighting game franchise in existence is doing it out of fanboy obligations.

Seriously, the game came out and faded into oblivion the second it wasn't awarded AAA for fanboys to gloat about. In contrast, Drive Club despite earning a freaking 5.0 here at GS, has got more attention shown by posters who enjoy and played the game (more so after fix) then KI even tho kI was basically a launch game for the 1.

The only reason why KI was ever even brought back up was because of the SFV announcement to be only PS4 and PC. It's pitiful and pathetic damage control for a game that was basically forgotten til it could be used as a crutch against a game that people actually do care about.

Fake posters saying KI over SFV is equivalent to cows saying they are more excited for the game that was knack over the last Super Mario U. Even if you don't like Mario, if you're talking platforming, it's completely absurd to suggest a game not even considered that good in the genre to the one defined it..that's what the situation is here.

IF....people had been raving about how great KI was for months on end and going into gameplay rants and the depths of what makes the game so special this might not be so much of a joke. When KI didn't get a gift AAA score for fanboy jollies the game fell from the topic board, only time you heard about was the season 2 announcement and.....after SFV was announced to be PS4 PC only.

Whoa chill man haha! KI is talked about all the time! No one here said it's even REMOTELY as "popular" as SF and rightfully so, we aren't even debating whether we think it's as good. Re-read the thread title, it's a matter of opinion, there are no wrong answers it's just healthy discussion. Alex Valle plays it and streams it along with SF, JWong plays it, it's going to be annually at EVO, it's a legit fighter. Many pros play both and are also picking up MKX, expand your mind.

Again, no one is saying it's bigger than SF. Still, KI is here, it's not going anywhere and rumors of it's death have been greatly exaggerated(actually they've been false but exaggerated sounded so much cooler there didn't it?).

I could do a KI mechanics thread but it would take a ton of effort to fully cover that I just don't think would be worth it, at least not in this forum lol.

At this point the game is only used for damage control. I don't want you to misunderstand my point though. I used the Drive Club example to point out one thing, it's not GS's opinion I was reflecting on, it's the users own hype/joy/vigor for a game.

If the game is really good and you believe that, make a thread about it. People may bash you but you are showing attention to a game you care about and that's at least admirable. There used to be an xbox fan who LOOOOOVED Fable, can't remember his id, and he made tons of threads to hype it and many times people dug at him, but you couldn't really accuse him of faking his hype because didn't do it just to fight/win against games on other systems.

I'm just saying when was the last time we saw a dedicated KI thread and wasn't just about the upcoming season or to counter SFV? I haven't seen anything about the game whether rants, raves, hate or love.

Suddenly, when SFV threads pop-up, people are more excited about KI than a game we know most fighting game fans respect and love without question? I just don't buy that, but I do encourage you to make your thread. I am a fan of anyone who is a fighting game fan. I have played a lot of fighters that I love that others scoff at, screw'em.

I'm not downing the game just the seemingly false hype that can't be seen outside of topics were it's not about winning over a game on another system.

I totally agree here, I think it's divided though. Obviously there will be the fanboys who are playing the exclusives cards but I think most of the genuine intrigue and excitement for KI is that everything in the new KI that was in the older ones hasn't been seen for 20 years and the rest of it is all new and has never been seen. It's just that enigma factor of what's next. I mean lets be honest, even before the character leaks I'm sure many could have correctly guessed at least 75-85% of the MKX and SFV rosters, mainly because of all the recent iterations. There hasn't been a KI in so long that this new version is almost a new IP by default. I think the "excitement" derives from the fact that most of what's still to come is 100% new to us.

At least that's my reasoning.

I've been enjoying KI since I first played it at Evo 2013 and bought an Xbone at launch so I could play it again, DH and IG have been doing amazing work reviving KI. I never got into the SF series and put a lot of time into any of the games to get good, but I'll play the games casually and I enjoy watching competitive SF.

I enjoyed playing around with KI when I got my X1. But I had the same thing happen that I did when SF4 launched. I bought that game day one and by day 4 I remembered that fighting games do not hold my attention for very long. Neither are bad games pre se just not my thing I guess.

Are you saying Sony fanboys don't do this as well? Anything on Xbox is put down by a cast of cows here. Nintendo fanboys not as much it seems. I guess their exclusive line up has them playing more than the other two factions.
