*Cough* Call Of Duty 4

Just because some guy camps for 3 minutes killing people who run by, I really don't think he deserves a helicopter or plane to help him in his noob expedition.

Same thing with the noobtube, some guy just shoots once and "BAM" I'm dead. Do the noobtube 5 more times and Voila, you have a helper in the sky.

Last but no least, the Nuke. WTF! Now can anyone tell me if they honestly feel like this weapon is needed.

Eh I don't mind them really (mainly because I don't camp/noobtube) It's actually pretty exciting when you get a really high kill streak and you try to make it higher(in any game not just CoD)

CoD4 done it right simple and basic yet rewarding and not overpowered. It was always a joy to get a chopper which wasnt as powerful as one might think if a team worked together to take it down. The CoD4 ones were better as they didnt take too long to get the numbers were easy enough to get if you were a decent player with a bit of savvy.

The problemi have with the MW2 one is the rewards for these high killstreaks which are just encouraging camping especially the AC and chopper gunner which are your staging for your nuke essentially it destroyed the whole feel and flow of a good well thought out design.

I think killstreaks are so pathetic. Who approved that idea? You should earn your kills the old fashion way. Not get 7 in a row, and then let an attack chopper do all the work for you. MW2 took that concept and made it even more unbalanced and stupid. Just give me a nice announcer saying KILLING SPREE or soemthing, and I'm happy.

Its one of the reasons I don't really play MW2 much anymore, its way to much of twitch shooter where your ping means more than your skill for me and its always the camping newblets who end up with a chopper every 5 minutes.

killstreaks make a game like MW2 very hard to adapt to for noobs. I remember when I first played MW online, I got destroyed by people using killstreaks, I had no idea what was going on even. Now that I'm pretty damn good at MW2, I don't worry about them at all.. you bring in a helicopter? Ok.. you'll be lucky if it last 20 seconds before it's blown up.

Personally, I dislike any game type that focuses heavily on kill count. Unfortunately, MW2 is very deathmatch heavy. The only thing I'll play in that game is Spec-Ops.

BFBC2 is more my cup o' tea because of Conquest and Rush.

They're really annoying especially with the larger maps with little cover, but what I really hate is that you can respawn and and just die straight away because of them.

they block one or two.. I can shoot two, and someone else on my team can shoot at least one as well.. so no big deal, it's more of a race to see who gets to kill it for the points.

I didn't have a prob with them in 4 but in MW2 they ruin the game, it makes the experience really frustrating, and constantly dieing from air support which you can't avoid no matter how good you are is really annoying, they should only leave in the weak killstreaks, UAV, Counter UAV, Precision air strike, Predator missle, EMP, turret etc. The strong the ones that stay in the air shooting, and the controlable ones need to go. They should never require more then 7-10 kills.

I completely agree. I think that Call of Duty 4 had it down. It was a new concept at the time and gave basic rewards for playing well: UAV at 3 kills, Airstrike at 5, and Attack Helicopter at 7. That was it. MW2 went completely apes*** with killstreaks and added overpowered streaks like Harrier, Choppper Gunner, AC-130, and of course the Nuke. The reality is that it is uncommon for most players to go on more than a 8 killstreak with out some help so all the higher kill count streaks do is promote camping.

have a class with cold blooded.. and they can't see you. then you kill it, it's easy man, I have a class literally named Heli killer, just for destroying copters or auto guns, or if there is a sniper who is extremely good using thermo.

Ya I already do, but it's still a flaw, and a lot of times your alive and your not going to kill yourself to change class so you have to camp. I'm pretty good at MW2, 2nd Prestige 38killstreak record :P But the large maps with tons of air support are really annoying for me, I liked COd4's smalled maps and more focus on gunplay.

The concept of kill streaks - rewarding players for getting a lot of kills without dying - is fundamentally flawed because it rewards the good players and punishes the bad players.

They weren't really a problem in CoD 4, but in MW2 they are a bit out of hand. Its always that one twitchy jackass who is hopping about the map with dual-wielded smg's that gets them, Then the poor sods like myself who are trying to play more carefully get repeatedly killed by a player who is already dominating. Totally illogical.

So far the only way i've managed to have any semblence of success in MW 2 is by using a assault rifle with a silencer, heart beat monitor and using the cold-blooded perk so that enemy air support doesn't see you.

the BC 2 system makes much more sense, rewarding the player with a pin and some xp - it helps the individual player but does not affect any others.

The greatest way to improve Killstreaks would be to remove kills from the concept.

Instead of rewarding lots of kills for one player so he can get more kills, reward a team for objective milestones. That way players still focus on winning the game. The streaks could go off automatically, or a commander could decide when to use them at the appropriate moment.

IE, for each +team point you get +streak point

You are falling a little bit behind, commander selects a streak, streak points = streak points - streak reward.

This prevents the sky from being poluted with streaks and makes them a reward of strong team play something the game lacks severely.

For a competitive FPS, Kill Streaks are completely out of place. It'd be like if a team scored three times in a row in a basketball game, they suddenly get jet packs and hand grenades. Basically in MW2 there's an element where you, as a good player, go from being the hero that carries the team to either the annoyed or annoying. You either go on a kill streak that's completely imbalanced by the fact the Harrier you call down will get you the AC130 which will get you whatever other ridiculous weapon you want, or you're sitting there getting killed because the good guy on the other team farmed all of your teammates.

Kill Streaks turn a slight advantage created by a player going "on a streak" (since their K:D is awesome they're effectively winning the game already) into a game-breaking swing. The system is also apt for abuse by hackers, glitchers, campers, etc...

I find it hilarious how COD4 is suddenly doing things right when not even a year or so back people would be screaming about the "noob" aspects of the game. I also enjoy the "I will never play another COD again" and then the Black Ops comes around and suddenly the tune becomes "I will never play another IW COD again". I put money down that tune will change again.

..

Killstreaks are fine in all of the CoDs. If your doing bad in MW2 then just use Cold Blooded, how hard is that, it literally makes you invisibly to chopper gunner, and less of a viable target for all the non player controlled killstreaks? If a camper has got a lucky heli than yeah, that sucks, but its as much crappy play at fault as it is other people on the team. If you get killed by some dude sitting in a corner, than bloody well look at that corner before you enter the room next time, better yet come from behind (possible in nearly 90% of the time). I have seen maybe 4 nukes in a solid 30 hours of online play. I never felt like they werent coming either given the state of the game at that point.

..

I understand their flaws and like MajorGamer points out there are ways to improve their uses. Killstreaks for points in MoH is a better idea as it encourages all aspects of play rather than just killing. If your having a lot of problems with killstreaks in CoD there is a simply solution, Cold Blooded, 5 kills and predator strike it, done and done without to much hassle.

WTF! Now can anyone tell me if they honestly feel like this weapon is needed.

antifanboyftw

better than BC2, where people getcertain abilites just for being a really high level. they can spawncamp over and over and the new players can't do #$%^

Well at least in BC2 I don't have to spend half the match in doors b/c I don't have a rocket. The problem is some people actually play the game like a FPS, but those are the ones that suffer. The real way to play COD is like a RTS/RPG ga,e where kills are your currency and perks are what you purchased. I feel like I'm playing a huge tower defense game sometimes

MW1 wasn't so bad. Stuff like the helicopter was a bit of a cheat IMO, but it was doable. MW2 is a big ****ing joke. Sometimes I've been nuked within the first 2 minutes of a round and consecutively.

Both killstreaks and perks are nonsense, in my opinion.

Those are stat padders, friends on opposing teams meet somewhere where one has a tactical insertion and farm 25 kills without being in danger. They have common locations I usually swing by them for a quick couple kills if I see some nonsense on the score board (ie 9-0 and opposing 0-9 real early)

Yeah, well it was a terrible game IMO and although my KD ratio wasn't so bad I hate whenever I turn it on. lol Hence no Vietnam for me.

MW2 really extends the problem.

MW1 just did a lot of the stuff right it was nice.

Animal-Mother
this^^^ most ppl have no problem with how killstreaks were done in COD4 (or WAW for that matter) but a lot of ppl I know think Infinity Ward went overboard with MW2. Kill streaks are way too dominant. I heard somebody say the tagline for MW2 should be Modern Warfare 2: The Search for more Air support!
