You can tell this isnt the same Guerilla Games from years ago. No install on a game that looks that impressive? Madness...

Nice to save some Hard Drive space for you 40 giggers though eh? :)

Likely it will use a comprehensive cache system like uncharted who's cache edged to the size of most installs on the ps3, So in the end your really not being given a choice if you were capable of taking the HDD out of the ps3 and play a game KZ2 likely wouldn't work since it requires a cache so its basically an install any ways.

After reading that link: I don't like the idea of players having big glowing lights on them, which basically negates the concept of trying to be concealed at all. But at least it's balanced for both sides, not just the Helghast glowing.

Would you please expand on that line of reasoning? Look, I know you want to be negative about this, so how about we just get it out in the open for once?

Trust me, anyone planning to exploit that feature will never get far in this game.

By the time you see any glowing lights, its already too late.

Think about it, Killzone 2 was developed way before they had the option to take advantage of installs. So instead of taking the easy way out with the help of the installs which they probably didn't know about and weren't focused on, they developed Killzone 2 without installs in mind.

So did they only have the option after all these other games started doing installs? :?

Sony's now in-house developer wouldn't know about the advantage of installs?

Moving on: I would have liked an optional install. But I don't have a mindset in which Guerilla Games is some kind of inflexible, ineffecient, 19 century assembly line, that can't take the intitiative to make their product as good as possible.

Thats not really the point is it? as for that the hard drive is easily removed in the ps3, like one screw then pops out, but the point was that they are making a big thing about no install optional or mandatory like they are doing some sort of service for the fans but in reality the game wouldn't be playable without some sort of cache thats a simple fact of blu ray, KZ2 will use a comprehensive consistant loading cache like uncharted did which was something like 2-3 gigs i believe so the whole optional or mandatory install means nothing since the cache is still there I would rather have a mandatory install for guanteed seamless gameplay instead of the promised in uncharted but hardly delivered.

But what if their game is good enough without the installs?  So in the end I wasn't the one who wanted to be negative about this.  It's just sad people got use to installs that they think every game need installs so the product would be as good as possible.

That is quite a technical achievement from Guerilla Games, nicely done. This game not only looks like a graphical powerhouse, the fact that there is *no* installation is really a feat worthy of developer talent and genius. Of course, the game itself is left to speculation whether it will turn out good or not, but at least we'll know it'll earn a bunch of graphics and technical awards upon its release.

Yeah, but if it works in the design then it should be fine and balanced. GG did say they'd make the lights (on both factions) fade according to your proximity.

Even if it works, that particular aspect is just not something that is for me. The rest of the game still looks like my kind of MP.

When a game like fallout 3 doesn't have a install you have to wonder why on playstation 3 other games have installs at all.

it might affect how much noise the disc loading produces. MGS4 runs quiet as a mouse while uncharted sounds like a DJ spinning a disc.

Wow if load times with install on PS3 are bad imagine them without. Also the texture pop ins and such it could be optional but it'll end up being mandatory.

Sometimes, the option of install could hurt a game's performance. When a game uses the harddrive to cache info and it streams off of the disc too, the harddrive wouldn't be able to properly manage it all(see: Halo 3).

This is awesome. For people worried about load times, I heard that Guerrilla has coded the game so that it loads during cutscenes, so there's no official "loading" screen, much like Uncharted

You're reaching at things that are there man. I don't know where you're getting it from, but he isn't bashing the game, the developers or the system at all.

If there are no major technical issues and load times aren't long i'll be very impressed with GG. The load times in the beta aren't that long btw. Killzone 2 is gonna be amazing! Come on February!
