PHENOMINAL

Also coming from all sides is the sound, especially if you're one of the fortunate few who owns a 7.1 surround sound system. The PS3 is the first console to support 7.1, and in Guerrilla's sound studio we were blown away -- almost to the degree that you can blow away the Helghast with your M82.
Killzone 2 was designed with an adaptive music system. Four different intensities are embedded within the orchestral loops themselves: low, medium, high and ultra-high, and the intensity ramps up to add drama as battles escalate. According to Sound Director Mario Lavin, the composer he worked with for Killzone 2 found his job much more difficult than scoring a movie due to the requirements of the adaptive system, which is different than composing music in a linear fashion.
The music sounds great, but the 7.1 really shines when it comes to ambient noise. Reverberations fold out and convey the space you are in, something that's quite noticeable when you listen to a gun being fired inside (sharp sound, small echo) versus outside (much larger, longer echo). We wouldn't be surprised if Killzone 2 leads quite a few people to upgrade their sound systems.
