Too bad the developer's only two other console games have been bad, or else this might have warranted excitement. I re-iterate my point that there is no good reason why Killzone should be getting hyped.

Unless they do some major changes to gameplay, story, and a way to make itself unique, then Killzone 2 will just be like a big-budget movie that flops. Let's hope they can actually pull off something special instead of the glitch-ridden, cookie-cutter gameplay we saw from Killzone 1.

should I be impressed? those 2 movies where terrible with no quality actors, or anything that would cost money. come back to me when it cost as much as king kong or lord of the rings.

It's probably worth mentioning. http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?p=227558#post227558 "The PS3 is also the most expensive system to develop for. It was estimated that to just develop for the PS3, a company would need an initial investment of 17.6 million dollars; that's not counting the actual cost of the development cycle itself. Oh, and don't take that for anything more than what I meant it to be, and that is to note that while the PS3 is indeed very powerful, it is also incredibly expensive to develop for. In fact, a lot of smaller developers are simply unable to develop for the system because of the cost. I'm hoping that Sony will work out a way to reduce the development cost because I really do want to see more games on the system."

Thats definitely an aspect nintendo has an advantage in, because the wiis development structure is so similar to the gamecubes smaller developers will be able to use the same budgets as last gen and there will be more games for the system

Yeah but sony doesn't have the startup cost felous because they own the devkits and the software required already to make the game so pumping 20million plus into a game is alot of money. Lost planet spent 20million on the developement and 20million on market and though its made capcom a profit it was alot of money to pump into a next gen game.

Red Steel could have been so much better if: - Ubi spent more time fixing the control bugs - The voice acting was much higher quality - It had more multiplayer options - It had real cutscenes instead of animated storyboards I mean, 10 million is nothing to scoff at. I think it really comes down to how well they use the money as opposed to how much money they get.

Of course, but you have to realize that 65 million for a major motion picture is considered chump change. Kudos to Frank Miller though, Sin City was awesome as well and cost less I believe.

This figure is suspect. It is likely some guy on a forum pulled it out of his *** because the only place I can find this information on a Google search is on forum topics citing that character in the Capcom forums.

I actually thought the Original Kill zone was decent...

Halo Killer no but then again I don't even like Halo

Oh and by the way dont ever use Epic Movie as an example ever again

otherwise Ill zip down my jeans and take a Piss on your face

You could have just used Underworld or Equilibrium as both those movies cost 20 million a piece

Budget is no guarantee of success, case in point Waterworld.

And that's not an unprecedented amount to spend on a game's budget either.

that movie wasn't actually so bad. It was just that people were so hyped because it was the most expensive movie ever made.

I've seen better movies than Epic Movie and Date Movie on newgrounds.com.

Those two movies relied far too heavily on other movies and the jokes weren't great while I'm seeing original jokes being made on very low budgets. One of my personal favourites on newgrounds is A Men's Room Monologue, pointing out how much public washrooms can suck and people that make them suck. There's also a series known as Neurotically Yours or to be more specific, Foamy's Rants which points out many retarded things and people in the world which are funny because they're true. If you're not in for a good laugh, there's also many series with better stories than half the mutated, contorted, and downright **** I see in theaters. Broken Saints is one of those series. If movies aren't your thing, there's also innovative games being made out there such as Blockhead the Game. Music artists (ParagonX9 being a personal favourite) are also on newgrounds creating music that isn't like that trash I hear everyday from so-called pop-stars, rockers, and rappers.

There are very talented and creative people out there that are born poor and unlucky and the only way they can convey their ideas is through Flash. There are also untalented people out there that just happen to be born lucky and spit out garbage all the time and thus, should quit their job and do something else that'll benefit technology, the economy, culture, society or anything else that isn't coming to my mind due to me watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. If not, I hope their heads will roll.

To make things short, it doesn't matter how much money is put into a book, television series, movie, or game if there are morons that can't make good use of it.

Just hope the developers of Killzone 2 know how to spend money efficiently.

Sorry to sound like a flaming fanboy, but it's my opinion and therefore from my perspective, the truth.

If your going to compare killzones budget to a movie, at least compare it to a good one.

Date Movie was the worst movie i have ever seen...

Epic movie looked exactly the same possibly worse (How can you make fun of Snakes on a Plane?)

Indeed. And Newcastle FC were one of the worst football teams in the UK until somebody bought them out. Then they had millions and millions to buy any player they want, and they did, splashing their cash at every turn. Newcastle FC are STILL one of the worst football teams in the UK. /my point

I believe the budget was limited to help market UE3. So Epic specifically designed Gears of War as a low-budget gigantic success story. It isn't really a fair comparison. :P

Yet but it was simply made using the Unreal Engine, which has had tens of millions invested into it's creation. To put that into perspective, three quarter's of Halo 2's development time was used making it's engine. Epic didn't need to do that.

Exactly why does everone just ignore the fact that the unreal engine took TONS OF MONEY TO MAKE.  Gears of war cost 10 million + the cost of the unreal engine.  That could easily push it to 20 million when you take all of the factors in.  If we minus out the money it takes to make the killzone engine we could maybe knock off 20 million dollars to make the game.  So then it might be on Gears of war level.....
