Hey,

Couple of days ago I bought a PS3 Slim and got myself 3 games. Little Big Planet, MGS4 and Killzone 2. The first 2 really deliver. I'm having a great time with them. However I thought Killzone 2 would be just as much fun if not more since it's just a nice FPS. Having played it for 2 hours now I'm not sure wether it's the game or me. Now I'm not sure if it's me or the game, but since I can still trade it (for Uncharted Drake's Fortune) I'd like to know wether I should just stick it out. I mean does it get fun later? Or was your experience the same but are not willing to admit to the countless Halo fanboys?

P.S.: How's Resistance 2 compared to Killzone 2?

You can modify the control scheme in Killzone 2 and I think they released a patch making the controls more like COD4. If you want a better FPS, wait till MAG comes around in January or if you want something soon, get Uncharted 2 when it comes out. You'll be much happier if you got that instead of U1.

i liked the multiplayer in r2 a bit better. but i thought KZ2 was one of the best FPS ive played in a while. i liked the story and had no problem with the controls. i liked uncharted a bit more but too different of a game to compare (TPS v FPS).

of course thats all my opinion so its basically irrelevent. stick with it and if you dont like it after you have it for a while trade it

the problem with Killzones campaign is the main character. Sev (or whats his name) has no personality at all. Otherwise i thought the campaign was decent. The multiplayer is a lot of fun, but gets repetitive faster than COD4 or Gears did for me. You should got ahead and get Uncharted 1. its a solid game for 30.00. I think GS gave it a good review at 8.0

The faults you listed for KZ2 do not get better. The SP campaign is nothing special. It comes down to the MP and whether that is your bag. Some people like the MP quite a bit.

R2 is utter garbage IMO. Horrid, awful, putrid SP campaign. One of the few shooters I could only stomach once. MP is passable. KZ2 is definately the better choice.

But UC is easily better than both, especially in story, characters etc. Only it has no MP. But if SP is your bag it is way better value than the other two.

I agree with what lhugey said for the most part. I didn't like the character that much, but still I thought the campaign was really awesome. I really like the AI and of course the graphics in Killzone. Same with multiplayer, think it is really fun, but it does get repetitive. I have to keep it mixed up with other games. LBP on the other hand I loved everything about it. Happy you like it too. That game is great, it's one when I have nothing to play I can still go online and find something cool to do with it. It's really fun coop and I've met quite a few people playing it.

KZ 2 requires skill.

I am glad that game does not feature noobish aiming, controls that are floaty, fast and too responsive. It made you feel like you were carrying a 55 pound beast of a gun.

Tips on aiming: Fire in bursts and dont use iron sights for close combat. Use it for med to long attacks.

Yea it's a FPS, most of the time they have crappy stories/dialogs....as for the controls, they're different...the devs wanted to make the player feel like he's swinging a gun around and yea it takes sometime to get use to but once you do things become a lot more enjoyable...

The place KZ2 really shines is in it's multiplayer, it's kaotic and a lot of fun once you've gained a few abilities.

Because playing sequels without playing the first one is fun, yes? Especially for a game that's supposed to be story driven. Uncharted 1 is a great game and shouldn't be missed. Unless you only want to play Uncharted 2 because teh grafix are c00l!!1

He's probably near halfway done, i'd say it's a good representation. If the mechanics in the single-player don't have him interested the Multiplayer most likely will be a turn off as well.

Halfway done? It took me 9 hours on my first playthrough....I was playing on Veteran however, so I died quiet a few times.

to me killzone 2 was absolutely horse-**** as you had said.
resistence 2 was pretty awful and generic as well.
i returned both games when i bought them.

the only fps i enjoyed on consoles was halo.

Killzone is more on the tactical side, like Gears I would say, so if you aren't used to tactical FPS games then I can see why, the online is absolutely amazing so you shouldn't miss oput, and later the campaign can get pretty enjoyable.

Resistance 2 is more arcadey if you would rather play that, its also a damn enjoyable game.

And Uncharted is fun, but VERY short. Worth a purchase if you are willing to get all the trophies, unlocks etc. and want to prepare for Uncharted 2 (which looks pretty sick).

Yeah, if you don't like a game it's a problem with you and not the game!

I too found the controls to be a bit unwieldy at first but just work with it, I hate the lag when controlling it but it was supposed to have been fixed. It's a decent game but I prefer games like Halo, Resistance, and COD over it.

Other games are nice choices though, UC2 is also dope.

go turn on the extra sensitive control square thingie that was in the update, i forgot what its called, but under controls its the square at the bottom, it helps alot. and stick the story out, it actually gets pretty intense. the beginning i thought stunk, unlike the first level in killzone 1 which was like a punch in the face welcome to hell kinda thing. this game didnt get good until like level 4, especially since lvl 1 was the demo lol. but it gets wicked intense later, and you will HATE one of the main guys towards the end, i wont say who but the ps3 people in here know who im talkin about lol.

It has a steeperlearning curve, and the good weapons and fun SP parts come later. I'd suggest playing on elite for the most enjoyment, most of the praise really comes from the polish with graphics and AI so its not drop in and play. Online like I said, is extremely fun and team oriented, like if Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty had a baby, you should go find a clan since clan wars are the absolute best.

Oh, and I'd change the controls to the Alternate 2 if I were you.

Me, Killzone 2 isn't the best FPS, but it is the most polished. All it really needs is some more weapons, better story production (with things like good voice acting andcharacter development), and some co-op/splitscreen and it would be amazing, but right now its just good, solid fun that trumps other FPS games in what it does offer.

The single player actually does get a bit better for it's 2nd half with the introduction of more guns and a cool mech sequence that is the highlight of the game. If your going to trade it in just finish it quick (it is SHORT) and trade it if your not interested in online (which is boring for that game IMO because the guns that wind up making the single player better are absent from online). Resistance is actually worse if you can believe that.

When I played the Japanese demo yesterday the voicing was good in my opinion and I exspect the same for the English version. The only reason I deleted the demo was because I found it hard to aim and when I took someone out from up top another person came to take their place, so basically I couldn't take out the people from above. I couldn't find any where else to go so I just gave up after a while of me being taken out from up top. But I will say that the story should be good some what sense the enemies seem pretty interesting.

Assuming he patched up before playing, he's already using the new controls. They're the default for all profiles created after the patch is installed.

If you are used to playing a lot of Cod4, you have to get used to the KZ2 controls. Fiddle with the settings. After you get used to it, its hard to go back to Cod4. KZ2 is an aquired (refined) taste.

I also got a slim a week ago and the 1st game i got is KZ2 and wooow the only more generic and boring shooter there is, is The Conduit. I finished it and damn KZ2 was garbage then i tryed multiplayer and it was boring frag fest. Now i just rented Heavenly Sword and at least this game delivers.
