Killzone 2 sales are not flop!!

i keep reading that killzone 2 sales is a flop, but if i remmber correctly everyone said LbP saless was a flop as well but it has sold over 2mil copies so far, sony games doesn't have good initial salesthat microsofthas but they do have legs, i'm not saying it's a halo killer or anything but LbP sold about 335,968 copies during it's first week in all 3 regions but now it stands at 2.16mil, i know it's vgchart but it's the only thing we have, look at GT5P it sold over 3mil copies and it's a demo but it's initial sales was only 639,548 copies and that includes japan, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfaresold 444,646 copies in it's first week but it's sales stand over 4mil,killzone 2 sold 713,585 copies not including japan we can consider meybe another 37k in japan since they are not a big FPS fans but that would make it about 750k copies in first week higher than all 3 games i mention, people keep forgetting sales aren't finish until they stop selling it in retails, this includes consoles sales as well the race isn't finish until all 3 consoles stop production.

This is just going to feed the flame more... Good Job :roll:

The sales in NPD were disappointing to most (hence the usage of the term 'flop') -- a lot expected higher; hell, last month the arguments were "wait" for march numbers. Well? We did, and the sales were actually lower than the previous month. Ouch. Stevo_the_gamer

no one expected the sales to increase, but if u look at the sales it only droped about 27k that shows that there is leg with this game.

no one said killzone 2 sold 2mil, i said LBP sold 2mil, and if u read the article it's 1mil by end of march thats when NPD numbers are included tehy don't include april, which means in about 5 week it sold 1mil copies worldwide which is a great number comparing that the month of march is not the biggest month of the year.

Stop makin' excuses for Killzone 2, it was a hype monster and had a far bigger install base at the time than games like COD4, COD WAW, Assassin's Creed, Heck, there were less 360s at the time Halo 3 came out, No piracy on ps3 makes it even more pathetic, KZ2 is not an absolute failure but it isn't exactly the shining beacon of success either for its pedigree and hype level, Oh wait, only 2 days in February, let's wait for March, what's the excuse now "it's been out for too long?" US is shooter capital and Sony isn't happy with these results, trust me, they're scratchin' their heads right now, Microsoft is killing with a hollow 2009 lineup and Sony's best cards are on the table right now, What do u think will happen if they actually start announcing new games? Losing to a faulty console that fails 33% of the time? A console that had a failed predecessor that got dropped like a rock killing off even more brand credibility? Dated hardware? Can you imagine if an inferior cheaper faulty hardware zune came out outsold the newer flashier more expensive but popular ipod that everyone has known and owned for years? That would be an absolute travesty, And losing on the software battlefront when you are piracy free and the competition is riddled by rampant piracy which u guys even complain of? It just doesn't add up even with the price advantage, And what's even worse is that there are $399 360 skus out there that are still selling, Why are people bypassing the almighty playstation brand and excellent game titles for a faulty console? the reason that kz2 is considered a sales flop is because it was one of the most anticipated games this generation (behind halo 3 of course) and it took the game a month and a half to hit 1 million. i've said this before, the unproven franchise of gears of war, then just one single game, not a franchise, sold 1 million copies in 2 weeks. 4 weeks later the game sold another million. and this when the 360 had a small install base and was around the ps3's launch. yes kz2 is the successor to a horrible game with poor sales but still, after the infamous e3 2005 trailer and the 4 years of anticipation, you'd think this game would've sold one million copies in just the first day, but no, it didn't. hence, sales fail.

gears was hyped, true, but it was still not known at the time how the game would play out. halo 3 was hyped like the second coming of jesus. hell the chief had his own mountain dew flavor and a commercial during the superbowl. mgs 4 was hyped only by the die-hard fans. the mgs series isn't even all that good it's just that mgs4 was coming after 1.5 years of flops for the ps3 and it was seen as the ONLY game that could the ps3's fortune around and possibly cause the ps3 to come in first place this gen that was a fail. kz2 was indeed incredibly hyped. not as hyped as halo 3, but more so than mgs4. when the e3 2005 trailer was played, the cows on this forum went ape---- crazy over the visuals claiming that the 360 was going to die off like the dreamcast when the game out. they were claiming that the trailer was in-game footage and that some guy backstage was playing the game. why did they think this? because sony said the footage was in-game. later GG said that was bs and that they only just started to work on the game and that the trailer was just that, a trailer that wasn't even realtime. kz2 was incredibly hyped but is now being downplayed by cows because it didn't sell well enough to live up to four years of hype.
