Killzone 2 = still the Most Technically Advanced Console Game (Crysis 2 who?)

All talk of Crysis 2 on consoles being non linear open world this and that...blah blah. How about try doing quater mile sized Multiplayer maps (Not single player where everything is scripted) with 32 players total, and I'm not even counting the turrets and sentry drones. All gun muzzle lighting creates shadows (list another console game that has this feature?)and all shotgun have an attached flashlight which creates shadows when shined on anything. All @720p (subHD is so last Gen) and even the framerate doesn't choke as bad as the Crysis 2 campaign, none the less the multiplayer. And yes the insane amounts of motion blur, both camera and per object, which is very taxing on hardware, complete with anti aliasing. Still have some of the best explosions/ smoke particles and best character animations. The insane amounts of beautiful lens flare that even Battlefield 3 can't seem to get right. Wow this game was way ahead of it's time. In fact, it pushed the PS3 so far that even the XMB gets laggy. And No Uncharted 2 never beated Killzone 2 graphically. Colors Doesn't = Better graphics.

Well I thought it was the other way around. Crysis 2 looks worse than KZ3 but is more technically advanced because it does everything in real time.

Crysis 2 on consoles is not 100% realtime everything. Only PC version. some shadows can be seen clearly painted onto textures. even Digitalfoundry confirmed this

I think killzone 3 is the best looking console game, but it just comes down to preference for the big contenders for top console graphics. All of them do certain things better than the others, there is no way to legitimately say one is better than the others, it is just preference on what features are most important to you.

Crysis 2 on consoles is still the only time a console game has made me go "WOW!" because of the graphics this generation.

yes Killzone 3 is sharper than KZ2 and have a superior draw distance. But all at the cost of ridding of the dynamic lighting system, reducing the quality of the particle effects, scrapping the destructible environments, lowering player count, etc. Do you notice that their new smoke effects are weak as hell, especially the smoke from the mortar beacon. it's almost 2D and only stays for about 1 second before dissapearing.

I forgot to mention. KZ2 and KZ3 are similar, all the things I mentioned are still done worse by KZ2. GG might have switched AA methods and optimized particle effects but the same things apply.

I don't know what game is technically the most advanced console game, but I do know it isn't Crysis 2. The reason is because the game can't keep a steady framerate, so it's obvious the engine isn't capable of doing what it's trying to do. If the game ran smoothly, the situation may be different, but as it is it just isn't in the running because it doesn't perform properly while attempting to do "everything" in real time, which is a bunch of crap anyway.

Crysis 2 made me go " what the #$%& the framrate is dipping again? Other things that Crysis 2 had me saying,"damn the A.I is retarded" "Are you kidding me, more glitches?" "Ok now this is starting to look good....oh wait....pop in and more glitches....never mind" Anyway, the first game I played this gen that really had me saying wow was Uncharted Killzone 2 had me saying wow too. Uncharted 2 had my jaw on the floor(i was stunned) As did God of War 3. I mean God of War 3 really had me speechless and amazed That wow I got from playing U1&2,GOW3,K2&3 for the first time still hasn't been replicated or matched by newer games Although the Uncharted 3 e3 demo did kind of blow me away with the level of polish, detail, and the water effects. The way the ship was realistically being flooded during gameplay then to have the ship fliped up side down....i thought it was pretty damn incredible

Blur is very taxing, 360 games are barely catching up in this department. Textures are great compared to Crysis 2. quarter mile sized maps with 32 players is anything but small environments. keep hating

I got you and I understand but Killzone 2 being a technical marvel doesn't take away from how jaw dropping Uncharted 2 is. To be honest id say that Killzone uncharted and god of war have been the biggest technical marvels on consoles this gen. Infamous 2 was super imperssive as well

All talk of Crysis 2 on consoles being non linear open world this and that...blah blah. How about try doing quater mile sized Multiplayer maps (Not single player where everything is scripted) with 32 players total, and I'm not even counting the turrets and sentry drones. All gun muzzle lighting creates shadows (list another console game that has this feature?)and all shotgun have an attached flashlight which creates shadows when shined on anything. All @720p (subHD is so last Gen) and even the framerate doesn't choke as bad as the Crysis 2 campaign, none the less the multiplayer. And yes the insane amounts of motion blur, both camera and per object, which is very taxing on hardware, complete with anti aliasing. Still have some of the best explosions/ smoke particles and best character animations. The insane amounts of beautiful lens flare that even Battlefield 3 can't seem to get right. Wow this game was way ahead of it's time. In fact, it pushed the PS3 so far that even the XMB gets laggy. And No Uncharted 2 never beated Killzone 2 graphically. Colors Doesn't = Better graphics.

I don't know what game is technically the most advanced console game, but I do know it isn't Crysis 2. The reason is because the game can't keep a steady framerate, so it's obvious the engine isn't capable of doing what it's trying to do. If the game ran smoothly, the situation may be different, but as it is it just isn't in the running because it doesn't perform properly while attempting to do "everything" in real time, which is a bunch of crap anyway.

People just pick and choose what is important. It's like me saying "Uncharted Drake's Fortune can't be considered a graphically impressive game because it has screen tearing".

Crysis 2 is undoubtedly more technically advanced than Killzone 2. On the other hand Killzone 2 runs a little better. Then again, Super Mario 64 also runs better than Crysis 2, but that doesn't mean that Crysis 2 doesn't look vastly better.

I got you and I understand but Killzone 2 being a technical marvel doesn't take away from how jaw dropping Uncharted 2 is. To be honest id say that Killzone uncharted and god of war have been the biggest technical marvels on consoles this gen. Infamous 2 was super imperssive as well

You are clearly mega biased in favor of PS3 exclusives. Sorry, but inFamous 2 is not really that impressive. Other open world games such as Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's Creed both look much better. inFamous 2 has low res textures, poor draw distance (for an open world game), and lots of jaggies.

Killzone 2 looks very good.

There no huge difference and its honestly hard to tell which looks better.

Explosions look better in Crysis 2.

Currently playing crysis 2 on Hardcore settings on my 40 led, same with my ps3.

Well I thought it was the other way around. Crysis 2 looks worse than KZ3 but is more technically advanced because it does everything in real time. ocstew

This is how i see it. Red Dead Redemption is also one of the most impressive.

Is there a game that has more lens flares than Crysis 2 honestly?Crysis 2 is more impressive game,techincally.KZ2/3 don't have HDR,they have alot of baked lights and shadowss,Crysis 2=100% real time.
